Congratulations to South Warren Football for punching their ticket to the state championship with a 36-20 win over Ryle! The Spartans are led by Coach Brandon Smith, who recently was recognized as the 2025 Class 6A District 2 Coach of the Year.
The Spartans will face Trinity in the state championship at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Kroger Field in Lexington.

WCPS EDUCATION FOUNDATION CORNER: BRIGHT IDEAS AND WCPS FOUNDATION GRANT WINNERS
Congratulations to the WCPS Education Foundation’s Bright Ideas Grant winners: Alvaton Elementary’s Ryan Marie for her project, “STEM and STEAM Kits for Innovation.” Also, congratulations to Max Vanschenkhof, Grady Spears, and Lydia Nelson from Drakes Creek Middle School for their project “Planting Positivity,” which will enhance and improve the outdoor space at their school with planters.
Another WCPS Education Foundation grant winner, Warren East High School, is the proud recipient of a grant for a project titled, “WE Heart Kindness: Building Community through Engineering, 3D Printing & Student Connections.”
