www.worldgreensummit.org Overview The World Green Summit (WGS) is a high-level meeting dedicated to sustainable development by focusing on facilitating the global green economy. WGS provides a media, marketing and networking platform to enable the world’s leading CEOs, financiers, celebrities, dignitaries and entrepreneurs to initiate and implement actions and collaborations for the global green economy. The inaugural summit will be webcast globally (and maybe televised) and support an active community of global green leaders.

Venue Currently booked Royal Tulip Hotel, Rio de Janeiro http://www.royaltulipriodejaneiro.com/ (ex-Intercontinental Hotel). 20-30 mins from Riocentro—site of the official Rio+20 conference. But we are also looking at other venues closer to Riocentro.

Speakers & audience The high-level conference will be led by the world’s leading green CEOs, investors, entrepreneurs, dignitaries, and celebrities. WGS will convene the most inspiring green economy leaders who will be present at Rio+20. (Global audience will be determined with our media partner).

Format & themes WGS is very much action-focused and therefore WGS will work with its partners to define and formulate the purpose, pathway and actions towards that sector. The summit will consist of: High-level panel sessions--Plenary panels/keynotes/armchair discussions (1hr15) with 4-6 CEOs, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and dignitaries discussing and launching new initiatives of the global green economy, that will be broadcast and webcast globally (TBC with media partners). Networking sessions--Delegates and speakers will have the opportunity to discuss and interact with each other in the networking area and lounge and communicate via the media corner (coffee breaks and reception). Workshops & roundtables (TBC)--Sponsored workshops on particular themes and sectors, or private intimate roundtables with the right corresponding high-level participants from our partners.

Programme 9.00-12.00pm Morning programme of workshops with Partners (private function) 1.15pm: Registration and start of the World Green Summit 2.00-3.15pm: Plenary Panel I – Sustainable Cities (CEO and Mayor level in plenary room) moderated by our Media Partner (TIME TBC) Cities will be the main drivers of consumption. How can we make sure that it is done in a sustainable way in the next 20 years? 3.15-4.00 Networking break & media interviews (45mins coffee & tea) 4.00-5.15: Plenary Panel II – Sustainable Energy 4 All (CEO-level in plenary room) moderated by our Media Partner Energy cuts across all sectors of industry and society. How can we scale and deliver sustainable energy solutions for everyone? 5.15-6.00 Networking break & media interviews (45mins coffee & tea) 6.00-7.15: Green Icons (famous global personalities announcement in plenary) with our Media Partner (CNN TBC) 7.30-10.00: Green Gala Evening reception (Cocktails & buffet)

Partners The Summit will be backed by a number of Fortune 500 businesses; the strongest institutional partners (e.g. World Bank, R20 and ICLEI); the best global media partners (e.g. CNN, and TIME magazine). The Summit falls in line and complements the remit and themes of the UNCSD with a view of measuring progress towards Rio+40 in 20 years.
