Nathan Adelson Hospice

Nathan Adelson Hospice was founded 39 years ago following the death of Nathan Adelson. Mr. Adelson was a beloved hospital administrator who cared deeply for his patients and employees. Following a long painful battle with stomach cancer, sadly Mr. Adelson passed away. Family and friends close to him realized the need for healthcare-specific to pain management and responded to that need. In 1978, Nathan Adelson Hospice became Southern Nevada's first home care hospice. Nathan Adelson Hospice is the only non-profit hospice in Southern Nevada and provides hospice and palliative care to more than 350 patients each day. Known as an industry leader, the organization has a reputation for providing exceptional end-of-life care. In 1983, Nathan Adelson Hospice opened the area's first inpatient hospice and today we are nationally recognized as a model for superior hospice care. Nathan Adelson Hospice is proud to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. In 1999, the organization opened a second inpatient hospice facility, and Nathan Adelson Hospice now has 38 inpatient beds. In addition to having two inpatient units and a home care program, Nathan Adelson Hospice provides care to residents of Pahrump and other outlying communities.

Census Bureau: Nevada's population tops 3 million

By John Sadler

Small Business Saturday

This Nov 30, be a part of the 10th annual holiday shopping tradition that brings together communities in support of their favorite small businesses. Find out how you can get in on one of the biggest days for the Shop Small Movement.

Tell A Friend Shop Small on Small Business Saturday 11-30-19 Save the Date! You have likely heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but do you know about Small Business Saturday? Each year since 2010 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, shoppers around the country are encouraged to patronize small, local businesses. The 10 year anniversary of Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday, November 30th.

Nevada's population increased to more than 3 million last year, according to newly released census data. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the state's population increased by almost 62,000 people between July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018, bringing Nevada's population up to 3,034,400. Nevada and Idaho were deemed the fastest-growing states by the Census Bureau last year. Most of the biggest increases were across the South and West - Arizona and Texas, especially - which the Bureau attributed to domestic and international migration. NV Population increase over the years The DallasFort Worth and Phoenix areas saw influxes of 131,797 and 96,268 people, respectively. That is a population increase of about 1.8 percent for DallasFort Worth and 2 percent for Phoenix. The Las Vegas area's increase was 2.04 percent. "One interesting trend we are seeing this year is that metro areas not among the most populous are ranked in the top 10 for population growth," Sandra Johnson, a demographer in the Census Bureau's Population Division, said in a news release. “Though no new metro areas moved into the top 10 largest areas, Phoenix, Seattle, Austin, and Orlando all experienced numeric increases in population since 2010, rivaling growth in areas with much larger populations," Johnson said. "This trend is consistent with the overall growth we are seeing in the South and the West."

NOTE: This event is a big deal for the kids of the Henderson area, as for some it's their only party for the season. I am hoping that the Chamber members might want to support YPS being a part of this event as one of our charity programs. I am currently in talks with the event coordinator to see what they need for volunteers. If we can get something out to the Chamber to see who would want to join and support, this event would be huge! CMBN NEWSLETTER 21
