Reverse Osmosis (RO) What is RO?  Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water treatment process in which water is forced through a semipermeable membrane that has very small holes or “pores”. Clean water passes through and impurities that are too big to pass through the membrane are left behind and flushed away.

How it works?

Reverse Osmosis uses a membrane that is semi-permeable, allowing pure water to pass through it, while rejecting the contaminants that are too large to pass through the tiny pores in the membrane. Quality reverse osmosis systems use a process known as cross flow to allow the membrane to continually clean itself. As some of the fluid passes through the membrane the rest continues downstream, sweeping the rejected contaminants away from the membrane and down the drain. The process of reverse osmosis requires a driving force to push the fluid through the membrane (the pressure provided by a standard residential water system is 40psi+).

What are the benefits of R O ?  Reverse Osmosis can remove dissolved solids, salts, minerals that cause hardness, organic chemicals and other impurities. It can improve the taste of water.  Treated water will not produce scale in kettles and coffee makers. Because sodium and potassium are removed, people on a medically prescribed sodiumor potassium-restricted diet may benefit. RO units may also remove contaminants such as chromium, mercury and nitrates. Before purchasing an RO unit, check the certification and literature for the particular model to verify exactly what it can and cannot remove.

WASTE WATER TREATMENT This figure is a basic schematic or model of a Wastewater Treatment Process that provides primary, secondary treatment using the activated sludge process, and secondary treatment (which provides biochemical oxygen demand removal beyond what is achievable by simple sedimentation), three approaches are commonly used: trickling filter, activated sludge, and oxidation ponds.

Describe the work of the treatment plant: The water enter the treated water pumping station to the entrance through the main channel water is pumped from the old pumping station to the entrance of the station and the water is filtered of sand, oil and inorganic particulates in and out of the water through the basin to measure abundance of ventilation - Ventilation is water in the basins of ventilation through the ventilation surface, which provides oxygen for the bacteria. - After the ventilation water out to final sedimentation basins - From the final sedimentation basins we withdraw of sludge that is returned to the aquarium section of the ventilation to keep the bacteria live and the other part is pumped to the basin condensation. In the condensation basins water is withdrawn from the sludge to become intense and pumped to the drying pools to be drained in the docks after the withdrawal of water from sludge collected dried leaves away. The water out from the sedimentation basins to chlorination basins where we inject liquid chlorine with rates depend on the result of daily laboratory tests.

Grey Water WHAT IS GREY WATER? “Grey Water” is wastewater collected from clothes washers, bathtubs, showers, and laundry or bathroom sinks. If properly collected and stored, it can be safely re-used, thereby reducing fresh water consumption. Reuse of grey water can also reduce the load on septic tanks and leach fields. Grey Water is distinguished from “Black Water”, which is wastewater from toilets, kitchen sinks and dishwashers.

Softeners SystemS Water softeners are high technology equipments which remove amounts of excess minerals like calcium and magnesium from water, making it soft. It is used to remove ions that cause hardness in water. The process involves using ion exchangers, designed to remove ions, which are positively charged. Water softeners mainly remove calcium and magnesium ions and sometimes may also remove iron ions. These machines use sodium as the exchange ion and are supplied from dissolved sodium chloride salt. The core of a water softener is a mineral tank, filled with polystyrene beads or resin carrying negative charge. Since minerals like calcium and magnesium carry positive charge, they are attracted and absorbed by the negatively charged beads, as the hard water passes through the tank. Synthetic resin beads or natural zeolites act as the exchange medium. Hardened minerals are collected in a conditioning tank and flushed out from time to time.

What are the benefits of a water softener? A water softener reduces water hardness, making it easier to shower and clean fabrics and dishes. With softened water, less soap is needed for bathing and laundry. Skin feels cleaner and clothing softer. Pipes, fixtures and appliances have less scale build-up. With less build-up, appliances can operate efficiently. Mineral-derived odors may be reduced; and, there are fewer deposit stains on bathroom fixtures.

What are the different kinds of water softeners? Water softeners come in four different types:  Offsite: the portable exchange unit does not regenerate at your home, a company replaces cylinder.  Manual: requires manual operation to perform backwashing, brining and rinsing.  Semi-automatic all functions are controlled automatically, with the exception of regeneration.  Automatic: all functions are performed automatically, including regeneration.

DeGasifiers Degasfiers are  constructed from Polyethylene (PE)  or  Glass  Reinforced Plastic with SS 316 distribution  nozzles  and Polypropylene  stripping  media. The basic principle of degasification is to force a  column of  air up-flow over a thin  film  or  small  drops of down-flow  water.  This procedure  will oxidize iron   and manganese, allow gases   such   as   carbon dioxide, methane  and  hydrogen  sulfide  to  escape  and to let volatile substance such  as phenol vaporize into  the  moving stream  of  air. The  degasfier has three  main components: the  tower,  the  blower  and  the sump.  The tower is  filled with  a large  surface area packing  that breaks  up  the falling column of water into   a thin film  and  small  drops.  The blower forces  a stream of  air  up flow  through the  water  and  out through  the vent pipe.  The sump receives   the   degasified   water  and  stores it  for a few  minutes  before it i s pumped  to  the point of use.  The collection tank, circulation pump, chemical  injection  system  and  control  panels  are  available  as optional  items. The benefits of using Forced draft Degasfiers include: 1. Reduce or eliminate  the use of hydroxide solutions to adjust pH of RO effluent 2. Reducing corrosion of distribution piping  and  fittings  by stabilizing RO effluent 3. Increase the oxygen level in RO effluent 4. Decrease the an-ion bed exchange resin volume  and consequently  reduce overall cost 5. Eliminate H2S from contaminated  water 6. Removes H2S from RO  and  reduce  the possibility of  RO membranes fouling with sulfur 7. Removes H2S from RO effluent  and thus enhance its efficiency

Swimming Pools A swimming pool is an artificially enclosed body of water intended for swimming or water-based Recreation. There are many standard sizes; the largest & deepest is the Olympic size. A pool can be built either above or in the ground, and from materials such as metal, plastic or concrete. Pools that may be used by many people or the general public are called public. While pools used exclusively by a few people or in a home are called private. Many health clubs, fitness centers and private clubs have public pools used mostly for exercise. Many hotels and massage parlors have public pools for relaxation. Hot tubs and spas are pools with hot water used for relaxation or therapy and are for diving, other sports and training for lifeguards. Pools must be sanitized to prevent growth and spread of bacteria, viruses, algae and insect larvae that can cause disease. This is done using filters and chemicals disinfectants such as chlorine, bromine or mineral sanitizers. A pool cover can keep debris out of a pool that is not in use. In cold climates, pools must be closed in winter to prevent them and their pipes from cracking due to ice.

Water is a chemical substance with the chemical formula H2O. A water molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms connected by covalent bonds. Water is a liquid at ambient conditions, but it often co-exists on Earth with its solid state, ice, and gaseous state (water vapor or steam). Water also exists in a liquid crystal state near hydrophilic surfaces. Under nomenclature used to name chemical compounds, Dihydrogen monoxide is the scientific name for water, though it is almost never used.

Water covers %70.9 of the Earth’s surface, and is vital for all known forms of life. On Earth, %96.5 of the planet’s water is found mostly in oceans; %1.7 in groundwater; %1.7 in glaciers and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland; a small fraction in other large water bodies, and %0.001 in the air as vapor, clouds (formed of solid and liquid water particles suspended in air and precipitation. Only %2.5 of the Earth’s water is freshwater, and %98.8 of that water is in ice and groundwater. Less than %0.3 of all freshwater is in river lakes, and the atmosphere, and an even smaller amount of the Earth’s freshwater (%0.003) is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products
