Praise God for Volunteers Who Truly Care By Sharon Houck, Data Entry Assistant, Water Street Ministries Thank you for your continued prayers for our volunteers. Recently I was privileged to be a part of an appreciation luncheon for Mission volunteers who work with the counselors in the Women’s Shelter. About 11 ladies attended who lead devotions, do art projects, work with the children or file paperwork. I was amazed as the volunteers began to share what inspires them to come back again and again. There were stories of volunteers who have walked in our clients’ shoes and can connect with them very personally. One woman shared of her zeal to see lives changed and people come to Jesus. Some truly enjoy meeting individuals’ needs.

A group of three women started here by simply sitting with the ladies in the “smokebox”, the area at our Prince Street campus designated for smoking. Instead of looking down on the women, these volunteers sought to make the best of these otherwise idle moments. The volunteers started to build friendships with the women, meeting the clients on their own turf. Through these relationships, God is changing lives. Most volunteers don’t leave the stories here; they take them home and pray for the women by name. Their passion and love is inspiring and real. Praise God for our volunteers who truly care!
