Thanking our volunteers‌ for real By closing night of Water Docs Film Festival, dozens and dozens of volunteers will have contributed over 2000 hours to create as fine a celebration of water as you will find anywhere. This runs from those giving a few hours right up to the dozen or so members of our co-ordinating team who give hundreds of hours each. I know our audience members want to join me in thanking these wonderful people for an extraordinary team accomplishment. They do this work because they know how sacred and essential water is in our lives, how it is being threatened all around the world, and how critically important it is that each of us takes responsibility for its wellbeing. In truth, they are not actually so interested in our thanks and praise at all. They would rather see their work rewarded through the actions all of us take to build a world where clean, healthy water is available and affordable for everyone. You can show them your appreciation by taking an active part in protecting water in your homes, communities and networks. If you are willing, this is the thanks they would appreciate most.
