You may have noticed the new logo on the front cover of this issue, if not, flip back a page and check it out! (We’ll wait). Well, since letting the “dog” out of the bag (so to speak) we’ve been receiving emails and comments about our new pooch but the one question that keeps coming up is “What’s his name?”. Well, the truth is that he has no name (yet) and we just can’t seem to agree on one and so we’ve decided that it might be fun to let our readers take a shot at naming our new mascot. The winner will receive some very cool (if we do say so ourselves) Watchdog Weekly gear AND $100 in FREE gas! We’ll announce the winning name in issue # 22. Here’s how it works: Visit our website (www.watchdogweekly.com/nameourdog) to submit your name suggestion. We’ll select our top 3 favorites and post them on Facebook where readers can vote for their favorite and a winner will be chosen based on the number of votes (likes). There are some of rules: 1. The Funny Page September 2008 – Eric Carmen, the pop singer whose hits include “Hungry Eyes” from the movie Dirty Dancing, was arrested in Orange, Ohio for drunk driving. Carmen was driving his 2008 black Range Rover when he ran off the road in front of the Beechmont Country Club, running over a fire hydrant in front of the club. Carmen was then arrested and charged with failure to control his vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Carmen was taken to Bedford Heights Jail and given a blood alcohol test, where the test showed a blood alcohol level of .234, almost three times the legal limit of .08. The judge fined him $750 and sentenced him to 30 days in jail, with all but three of those days suspended. December 2004 – Actress Natasha Lyonne, co-star in the mega-hit movie “American Pie”, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and harassment after she entered a female neighbor’s Gramercy Park, NY apartment screaming and yelling, according to a misdemeanor complaint filed in court. The complaint said Lyonne banged on the female neighbor’s door, entered the apartment, ripped a mirror off the wall, picked up the woman’s pooch and said, “I’m going to sexually molest your dog.” After her arrest, Lyonne missed several court dates and the judge issued a warrant for her arrest. The charges were later dismissed after she successfully completed a court-ordered drug program and paid $2,000 restitution. January 2009 – Police in Normal, Illinois arrested actor and playwright Sam Shepard on preliminary charges of drunken driving, speeding 15-20 mph above the limit, and improper lane usage. “The way he pulled up on the curb, it appeared he was driving under the influence,” Officer Kotte said. His blood-alcohol level was reportedly twice the .08 legal limit for driving. He pleaded guilty to speeding and drunken driving charges and apologized to the judge. He was fined $600 and court costs and was placed on 24 months’ supervision. He also has to finish an alcohol treatment program and perform 100 hours of community service. March 2006 – Pianist Yanni (real name John Yanni Christopher) was arrested in his home in Florida after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. Police were called to his oceanfront home after his girlfriend of one and a half years called 911 from a locked bathroom. She told police that Yanni threw her clothes from the closet and ordered her to move out of his house. Barthes’ lip was swollen and bloody when officers arrived, the report said. She told an officer she thought she may have struck her own lip while Yanni shook her. Yanni acknowledged that they argued but said he grabbed her arms only after she kicked him in the groin, police said. He said he hurt his left middle finger during the confrontation but denied striking her. He was arrested on a firstdegree misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. All charges were later dropped.

Teen Passes Out in Ceiling after Pharmacy Robbery

Drunk at his own Public Intoxication Hearing!

Police in Plainville, Massachusetts arrested a 17-year old burglary suspect after he was found passed out in the crawl space of a pharmacy in Plainville. Ryan Gelineau was rescued from his semiconscious state by police officers and fire fighters after drinking about 2 pints of cough syrup that contained codeine and took other medication, all of which he had stolen during the robbery. His phone alarm alerted employees that something was not quite right in the ceiling. Gelineau also had a hidden a duffel bag containing more than a hundred pill bottles, four cartons of cigarettes, rope and a mask. Police also recovered $320 in cash, which was returned to the pharmacy. Gelineau faces numerous felony charges, including breaking and entering, possession of burglar’s tools and larceny.

Police arrested a Lawrenceville, Georgia man for showing up drunk to his court hearing to answer to previous public intoxication charges. When a police officer believed he smelled alcohol on 49-year old Phillip Ingram’s breath, a breath analysis was conducted. He registered a .14%, twice the legal limit, and was subsequently arrested for being under the influence at City Hall. This is Ingram’s 13th arrest since 2003.
