From a Reader “Dear Editor, My name is Matt Drake. I’m a Police Officer in Spencer, IN. and the manager of Security at Kohl’s Department Stores in Bloomington. I have become a fan on Facebook and I’m also trying to get my friends to join your page! I pick up each issue weekly of this great paper. Working in Spencer and here at Kohl’s I have an impression of the local people wanted and recently arrested embedded in my head in case I were to see them. I have seen some of the people in your paper that I have helped arrest! This is a great tool for the local people trying to keep up with the crime these days. It’s also very informative for the people who do not use internet to see the sexual predators that might be in their own neighborhoods! It’s also a great tool for kids when my wife and I sit them down and explain that there are bad people out there. With the sexual predators it gives them a visual to look at that way they can and will stay away from the bad guys. I want to personally say thank you not only from a citizen standpoint but from a Police Officers standpoint. Some are touchy when it comes to us trying to share this type of information but Watchdog Weekly has taken all that away from us and now provides our citizens with this very important information that I think they need to know! Thank You and keep up the awesome job!!!”

The Funny Page June 2010 – Actor Joseph Gannascoli, the actor who played Vito Spatafore in the HBO hit series “The Sopranos,” was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Tampa, Florida. According to police records, the officer who pulled him over said he could smell alcohol on Gannascoli’s breath, his eyes were bloodshot and watery and his speech was slurred. A field sobriety test was administered and the officer says Gannascoli showed numerous signs of impairment. He was booked in jail where he allegedly blew a .111 blood alcohol level. June 2010 - Actor Chris Klein was arrested on suspicion of DUI and in Los Angeles. According to the California Highway Patrol, the American Pie star, who was once engaged to Katie Holmes, was pulled over for weaving westbound on the Hollywood freeway. After the California Highway Patrol officer pulled him over, he failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. His blood alcohol level was .20 -- nearly three times the legal limit in California, which is .08. In 2005, Klein was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI for having a blood-alcohol level at .20. He was booked and released on his own recognizance. He has since checked into a rehab facility in Utah.

October 1999 – Actor Matthew McConaughey was arrested in Austin, Texas, for resisting arrest following a disturbance in the early hours of the morning and for possession of cannabis. He had been found to be playing music very loudly on bongo drums while nude in his own home. McConaughey denied the drug charges (which were subsequently dropped), but was charged with disturbing the peace. He pled guilty and paid a fine of $50.

September 2008, Blue Collar Tour comedian Ron White was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an anonymous tip informed Vero Beach, Florida police that White’s private plane would be carrying narcotics. White had allegedly been involved in an altercation with his flight crew on his private plane involving his use of marijuana on board during flights. White was found to be in possession of 7/8 of a gram of marijuana. He was reportedly very cooperative with Florida police. Ron White has a valid medicinal marijuana license from California. He posted $1,000 bail and was released.

Strange But True Who Paid For Your Wedding?

The 1,000 Mile Test Drive

Cornwall, England – In September 2007, Joanne Kent went all out for her wedding, spending close to $100,000 on reserving all of the rooms at a romantic cliff-top hotel, fireworks, and lavish gifts for her guests. How the 26-year-old Kent’s big day was financed was a question that was asked by police. In all, it was found that Joanne Kent embezzled approximately $700,000 from her employers – quitting two months before her wedding. Although police are unsure of how exactly all of the money was spent, she paid around $75,000 for two vehicles, as well as additional monies on mortgages and properties. The mother of two pled guilty as charged to one count of theft and one count of fraud and was sentenced to two years in jail.

Janesville, Wis. – A Massachusetts man who allegedly kidnapped a car salesman during a test drive and drove the vehicle more than 1,000 miles was arrested in the state of Wisconsin. Authorities said a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper pulled over 32-year-old Aleh Kot near Edgerton, Wis. for speeding, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without owner consent. The incident began when the man and a Honda car salesman went on a test drive but the man refused to turn back around. With the unnamed salesman in the car, Kot reportedly drove west on the Massachusetts Turnpike at estimated speeds of up to 125 mph. The salesman was able to escape during a traffic tie-up by the toll booth at West Stockbridge, police said. Kot never told police what his destination was. He faces charges in West Springfield of kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle, unarmed robbery, and assault and battery.
