Strange But True “I’m from New York, can’t I do this here?” May 2011 - Mishawaka, Indiana – Responding to a call, officers pulled up to a black male laying on a blanket, completely in the nude, on his back, with his entire frontal region showing. It was obvious that he was making no attempt to cover up as he appeared to be enjoying himself, smiling, as officers made contact. According to the police report, “his shorts and underwear were about 4 to 5 feet away and it was apparent that it was deliberate and not a wardrobe malfunction”. On the other side of the blanket were his shoes, a book, a bottle of extra virgin olive oil (which he was slathering on his body), cigarettes and two cans of beer. It was immediately evident that the man was intoxicated. He gave the name ‘Michael Sampson’, which did not return any files on the police computers. He was charged with public indecency and public intoxication. He was later charged with false reporting when police found that his name was actually Michael Donte Booth.

Gotta have my sheep meat! May 2011 - DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Washington D.C. area - Customs officials at a Washington-area airport say they arrested an Ethiopian with nearly 90 pounds of sheep meat in his suitcases. Agents at Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia searched the luggage after the man admitted he had brought food into the country. But they weren’t expecting meat cooked in a red gravy and divided into 15 plastic bags that weighed 88 pounds. “That’s an awful lot of food product to stuff inside one’s baggage,” Christopher Hess, port director for the Port of Washington, said in a statement. Federal regulations say travelers can’t bring animal products into the United States from countries known to harbor certain diseases, such as foot and mouth disease and swine fever. Officials threw the meat into an incinerator but allowed the unnamed man make his connecting flight to Seattle.
