SUSHMITA’S LI’L ONE DEBUTS ON RUNWAY
Actor Sushmita Sen walked the ramp for the grand finale of India Kids Fashion Week on Thursday in Mumbai, with her daughters Renee, 12, and Alisah (R), 2, in tow. The 36-year-old actor walked for young designer Nishka Lulla, whose collection was called Mela. Sushmita walked in a heavily-embroidered salwaar kameez and her daughters were dressed in colourful lehenga cholis. While Sush has shared the ramp with Renee earlier at Lakme Fashion Week, she shared the runway for the first time with her younger one. Other showstoppers at the finale were filmmaker Sohail Khan and actors Nandana Sen, Maria Goretti and Shruti Seth. HTC

nce bitten, twice shy. Seems like the scuffle between her bodyguards and a section of the Indian media in Vrindavan has left Oprah Winfrey wary in terms of security arrangements here. So much so that the celebrated American talk show host is now contemplating making her first trip to India her last. “It’s a centurial visit. India is so diverse. It’s gorgeous. It’s like paradise. It has been an overwhelming experience to come here,” the 57-year-old told us while taking a guided tour of the Taj Mahal in Agra on Thursday. “I want to thank (India) for my first visit here and my last visit too,” she said. Asked why she doesn’t plan to come

about being vegan, it’s my clear conscience”, Mallika was quoted as saying while Dhanush, who shot to national fame with song Kolaveri Di, was quoted as saying he felt light and healthy being vegetarian. “There’s nothing sexier than someone who exudes passion and compassion — and our winners have plenty of both,” said PETA India’s chief functionary, Poorva Joshipura. The winners were chosen based on votes and other factors such as style of diet and food habits.

ctor Mallika Sherawat and singer Dhanush of Kolaveri fame have been voted the hottest vegetarian celebrities in a poll by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The two trumped the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, among others. “Thousands of people cast their votes to help PETA India determine the Hottest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2011, and Dhanush and Mallika Sherawat have been declared the winners,” the animal rights advocacy group said in a statement. “If I had to pick the very best thing
back ever again unlike her Hollywood friends, Winfrey said with a visibly confused and disappointed look on her face, “I don’t know.” The talk show goddess seems quite upset with the chaos in Vrindavan which ensued when three of her bodyguards were arrested for roughing up scribes and damaging their equipment. The incident occured when the journalists were chasing Oprah while she was shooting her new show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, there. However, the actor-philanthropist remained tightlipped about what really happened there, and her management too did not comment. They did confide in us though, that “it was unfortunate”. Meanwhile, her visit to the Taj left some desis oblivious.

Some even thought that one ‘opera singer’ was there. She might not be visiting again but she has had a mouthful of “spicy” delicacies that she’ll always remember. “I tried a lot of it with champagne. It was delicious,” she told us. Oprah stayed at The Oberoi Amarvilas and shot at Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri before leaving for the Jaipur Literature Fest.
BETI B IS ‘GORGEOUS’
Oprah can’t get over AbhiAsh’s Beti B, whom she met on Monday. “She is gorgeous, even with her eyes closed,” said Oprah, who reportedly called her ‘Princess’. When told that she turned Amitabh Bachchan, the biggest star in the country, a chauffeur, she said, “I don’t know about that but it was great to see the way he was holding the baby in his arms.”
‘MY LAST VISIT TO INDIA’
ctor Abhay Deol had no clue that the entire team of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), with the exception of Katrina Kaif, would boycott the recent Screen Awards. The actor, who was part of the Zoya Akhtar movie which also starred Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Kalki Koechlin, says it didn’t even matter to him, as he doesn’t care about awards anyway. The film’s team did not show up at the ceremony after filmmaker and jury member Sanjay Gupta reportedly claimed that the film is a rip-off of Hollywood film Fandango, and so should not be considered for a solo award. Deol says, “I didn’t know about the boycott. Regardless of that, I don’t attend award functions anyway as they are all sham. They are all made up and there is politics behind who gets an award. There is an urge to please all.” Ask the 35-year-old about his recent meeting with

She is a great woman.” Abhay, who was in the Capital on Thursday to support the Shiksha campaign for the cause of 100% education in India, can’t wait for his next movie, Shanghai, co-starring Kalki and Emraan Hashmi. “You will see me in the role of an IAS officer,” he reveals. Deol, who’ll also be seen in zom-com Rock the Shaadi, rubbishes rumours that he has also signed Raj Kumar Santoshi’s upcomig film, starring Sonam Kapoor. “I haven’t signed the film yet,” he says.
