KiaKnots AfterCare

AFTERCARE Welcome to the KIA KNOTS crew and congratulations for choosing one of the healthiest hair extension techniques that exist within the market. Here are some hints and tips and overall info about your knots. PLEASE follow your aftercare recommendations to get the most out of your new hair.

Firstly – Your knots are always tight and feel a little sore for the first 2-3 days. This is normal. We have knotted your new hair in tight for a reason – so they don’t fall out! It will hurt to sleep on as your scalp is adjusting. Some people opt for light pain relief to help during days 1-3. After 7-9 days you will forget your knots are in and feel no pain. Battle on, it is worth it!

Brushing You now have longer hair, it is common for your extensions to become tangled easily. You MUST brush every morning and night, even when you have curls in your hair (please do so gently) tatts on the bottom? You must ensure you hold your hair/knots at the root whilst brushing otherwise you will drag out your knots. 90% of Kia Knots customers do not lose any knots at all, those that do are not brushing properly. We recommend you get a tangle teaser asap! Washing your hair

We always recommend that you pick up an aftercare kit from the salon, this way you are 100% sure you are using the correct products. However, if not – try to use a conditioning mask in the shower, we recommend Wella enrich mask for natural hair or brilliance for coloured hair. Always brush through your hair when in the shower when your conditioner/mask is on. We recommend you then spray your damp hair with Revlon ONE spray as a leave in treatment and protector. Most people don’t wash their hair more than once weekly but this is personal preference.

Tying hair up Try not to tie up your hair in a high pony for the first week as this can cause pulling and a little stress to your scalp. Let your knots settle first.. Low pony is fine.

Maintenance

We recommend your maintenance every 3-4 months, this way ensures no matting or damage. If you leave your knots in without maintenance for 5+ months, your hair can start to twist, matt and even break. Look after then and commit, its for your own good. Your maintenance is either £150 (half head) or £200 (full head) colour is extra on top of this.

Hair shedding We lose up to 100 hairs per day in everyday life. We shed like crazy but just don’t realise it. Now, your hair is shedding and your knot is keeping the shedded hair inside of the knot. This is fine, but don’t think its snappage as it isn’t. This shedded hair will come out on your refit and it will cover the floor. DO NOT PANIC by thinking this is snappage, its natural hair loss.

More questions

Itchy?

Totally normal and again, this eases BUT please try not to scratch too much, try to patt instead. You could end up causing some blistering/scabs. If you do, this is pretty normal too whilst your scalp gets used to the knots

How long should your hair last? This depends on you and how much you look after your hair. You should get 12 months at least out of your new hair but if you are not following the above, it won’t last. Some prefer fresh hair every 6 months. This is fine, your choice!

Dry sahmpoo? Fine!

Hair Oil?

Cool, just not around your knots/roots

Lost any?

Don’t worry, we can fit them back in on your next sitting if you keep the hair knot intact as neatly as possible if your maintenance is booked within 15 weeks
