All Information About a Junk Dealer
A junk dealer is a person engaged in the business of purchasing and selling metal junk, scrap, secondhand personal property or other articles or things that have been discarded or are of no use in any form. A junk dealer may also be a processor, recycler or remelter of iron, steel or other metals for resale. Any town, city or borough may make reasonable ordinances with reference to the licensing of junk dealers and the location of junk yards. A license fee, to be set by the local governing body, shall be collected for each vehicle or team used in connection with such business. The junk dealer shall keep in his possession a record of all purchases, the name and address of the purchaser and the price for which the junk is sold. The junk dealer shall, before leaving any village or incorporated town or city, present such record to the police officer or marshal of the town for inspection. No junk may be purchased from any child under 18 years of age or from a habitual drunkard. A license for the operation of a junk dealer’s business shall be issued by the police department. Such license is valid for one year from the date of issuance and shall be renewed annually thereafter. The application for a license shall be made in writing and accompanied by the fee as prescribed by law. No junk dealer shall burn hunk, or any other article, on the premises of his business unless he first secures a permit therefor from the fire department, and in addition to such permit
