e’s been awarded the Order of Canada, had dinner with the Queen, is a Juno and Gemini recipient, a philanthropist, an environmentalist. And he’s a Calgarian.

An actor and musician, Tom Jackson moved here part-time in September 1992 to start shooting the everpopular TV show North of 60. Falling in love with the city, he and wife Alison eventually sold their home in Winnipeg and became full-time residents in 1996, buying their first home in Signal Hill. In 2003, the couple sought out a more private, peaceful location and purchased a 3,400-sq.-ft., threebedroom bungalow in Bearspaw. It features a fully developed walkout basement, four-car garage, a tennis court and 4.5 acres offering a beautiful natural setting that is often frequented by deer, moose, coyotes and a plethora of birds. Surrounded by trees that hide the residence from the street, the home provides them with “unexpected seclusion so close to the city,” says Tom, who often walks to a nearby shopping centre on Country Hills Boulevard for a morning coffee. I sat down with Tom and Alison in the basement studio, – home to Tom’s many guitars – to chat about the home and find out what this multi-talented Calgarian was working on these days.
