How to Log in to WebAdvisor

1. All student accounts (current and new) must be activated prior to Logging in to WebAdvisor. To activate your account go to my.waketech.edu. Click the Activate Account button and follow the instructions provided. 2. Type the address for WebAdvisor (https://webadvisor.waketech.edu) in the address box of your Internet browser. 3. Click on Log in. 4. In the User ID box, type the User ID and in the Password box, type in the password provided during the account activation process at my.waketech.edu. Click OK. 5. If you forgot your User ID or Password go to my.waketech.edu to retrieve your User ID or reset your Password. 6. Click on Current Curriculum Students if you want to do more than search for sections.

Note: If you simply want to search the schedule of classes, you do not need a User ID or a password. You can click on Future Students or Current Curriculum Students and then click Search for Curriculum Sections without an ID or password!

4

How to Search and Register 1. Log in to WebAdvisor. 2. Click on Current Curriculum Students. 3. Locate the heading for Registration and click Register for Sections. Click on Search and register for sections.

5

4. On the Search/Register for Sections page, you must select the term you wish to search within. Click on the drop-down arrow beside Term and click the term for which you wish to register. You must also select at least one other search parameter (subject, sections meeting after, sections meeting before, day of the week, course title keyword, location, or instructor’s last name) to get search results.

5. After selecting Term and at least one other search parameter, click SUBMIT to get your results. 6. A list of sections based on the search parameters you entered will be returned. Search results are limited to 250 per instance. If you would like to review the 2000 + course sections offered, you can review the entire schedule at www.waketech.edu (or click the link on the main page of WebAdvisor).

6

7. From this list of sections, you can start to build your list of preferred sections. If the status of the class is Open, that means that seats are still available and that you can select this section by clicking in the box under the column Select. (You may want to select multiple sections in case certain sections are closed on your registration date). Remember, you are not registering now; you are simply building a list of preferred sections.

7

8. If it is BEFORE your registration date, this is as far as you can go. You can continue to add to your list of preferred sections, but you cannot register until your registration date. (If you try, WebAdvisor will send a message saying that you cannot register before your assigned date and time.) When your date to register arrives, you will use the Register for previously-selected sections option. 9. If it is YOUR REGISTRATION DATE OR AFTER, you can proceed with registration. In the Action block beside the course(s) for which you wish to register, use the drop-down arrow to select RGRegister. When finished, click SUBMIT.

10. WebAdvisor will return a Registration Results page. If you encountered no error messages, your status will show “Registered, as it does in the example below. At this point, you can click OK. You have completed your registration for the selected section(s).

8

How to Register for Previously-Selected Classes 1. This feature can be used only if Search and Register was used to set up a Preferred List of Classes. 2. Log in to WebAdvisor. 3. Click on Current Curriculum Students. 4. Locate the heading for Registration and click on Register for Sections. 5. Click on Register for previously-selected sections. The Register and Drop Sections will appear with your list of Preferred Sections.

6. In the Action block beside the course(s) for which you wish to register, use the drop-down arrow to select RG-Register. When finished, click SUBMIT.

9

7. WebAdvisor will return a Registration Results Page. If you encountered no error messages, your status will show “Registered, as it does in the example below. At this point, you can click OK. You have completed your registration for the selected section(s).

8. If you encounter red error messages on the Registration Results page, you must resolve them as directed before you can proceed with registration. More information is provided in the Troubleshooting Tips in this guide.

After searching and attempting to register for sections choose WL under action to place your- self on the wait list for a class. 3. Wait for the email that notifies you of an opening (students have 24 hours to register once they are notified of an available seat in a class)* 4. Once notified, Go to Manage My Waitlist and select Register to register for the course or Remove to be taken off the waitlist.

* Students must have already activated their my.waketech.edu account in order to receive email notifications.
