State Camp A Success Last month WAIMA hosted the 10th annual Zen Do Kai state camp. Renowned instructors, Kyoshi Billy Mayne and Shihan Matt Ball, flew in from Melbourne to spend time with WAIMA students at the camp. A number of different martial arts styles were explored, including camp favourite Systema which is a form of
pressure work. The feedback from students has been fantastic, WAIMA is already making plans for a bigger and better camp next year. Be sure to mark the beginning of August 2012 in your calendar to ensure you’re part of it!

The message of the month for September is focus. Focus is the single most important life skill, it is the foundation of balance, discipline and control. The four main ways we focus are with our eyes, ears, mind and body. Put simply, to focus means to pay attention. Paying attention makes learning easier and more fun.
If you have great focus, you’ll understand what your instructor is teaching you, and your techniques, skills and homework will be easier. The foundation for focus starts with good eye contact. Studies have shown that if you look with your eyes, you will hear better, understand better, and retain information for longer.
Important Safety Message for Parents It has been bought to our attention that unaccompanied children are being dropped off at the dojo to attend classes. While we understand that we all lead busy lives and that sometimes it is necessary to drop children off a little before class, it is important that you understand that WAIMA is not responsible for the welfare of your children while not in class.
Neighbouring businesses have raised concerns that children are running around in the car park playing hide and seek. Please ensure that your children are safe at all times, children should not be playing in the car park or anywhere out of your sight.
Junior Black Belt Club - Movie Night WAIMA will be hosting a movie night for junior black belt club members (6 – 14 years) on 17th September at the dojo.
