OnSaturday,June10th,ourclubhelpedMuseum Square,EastHawai’iCulturalCenter,Hawai’i ScienceandTechnologyMuseum,PacificTsunami Museum,andMokupapapā,withtheirboothsand activities.Thereweretwomembershelpingwith eachboothandoneofourmembersevenhelped withtemporarytattoos.Othermembershelpedat theinformationboothandpassedoutflyersto peopleattendingtheevent.Weappreciatethatwe wereabletohelpoutwiththiseventagainasitwas successful!
TheBeachCleanUpprojectwasheldonJune17,at Lili’uokalaniGardensfrom3toabout6pm.Theeventwas heldtocleanuptheshorelinebyCoconutIslandandbythe gardens.Therewasalsoasocialaftertheeventwhereyou couldeatsandwichesandchipsandalsoplaygames hostedbyoursocialchairs.AnyoneinWaiakeaKeyClub couldhaveattendedthisevent.Theweatherwaspretty goodduringtheproject.Itdiddrizzlealittle,butshortly stopped.Weenjoyedthesocialwithanicebreezeandno rain.Wepickeduptrashwesawandenjoyedourpicnic social.
InJune,membersoftheWaiakeaHighKeyClub volunteeredattheKiwanisKupunaSpellingBee. Membershelpedguidecars,passoutrefreshments,and cleanuponcetheeventwas.Theeventwasalotoffun toparticipatein.Kupunafromourcommunitycame togethertoparticipateinaspellingbeethatadvanced thetopthreecontestantstoOahuforastate-wide competition.Thisprojectwasespeciallyfulfillingaswe wereabletohelpoutourKiwanisfamilyandeven collaboratedwiththeHiloHighKeyClub.
FromJune30thtoJuly2nd,theNorthAmericanTaiko Conference(NATC)tookplaceatKea’auHighSchool.The eventhadmultipleshifts,andKeyClubmemberswere giventheopportunitytoworkatthem.EmilySakamoto,a formermemberofWaiakeaHighSchoolKeyClub,reached outtoaskforWaiakeaKeyClub'shelp.OnFriday,June 30th,weorganizedTileafleisandhelpedmovetaikodrums intothecoveredcourts.Theothershiftsinvolvedmoving drumsaroundandservingfoodtoattendees.Allshiftswent smoothly,makingthisprojectahugesuccess. Additionally,allshiftscountedasanInterclubevent.
