Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that primarily affects an individual's face. Rosacea affects men and women differently. Women are more likely to experience symptoms on the cheeks and chin, while men are primarily affected in the nose. There is no known cause for rosacea, but research suggests it could be a genetic bacterial infection or an abnormality in the blood vessels of the face. Rosacea is more common in people between the ages of 30 and 50. There is currently no cure for rosacea, but treatment can control and reduce the signs and symptoms associated with the condition, such as redness and bumps.
