Facilities & Rentals Ignace Recreation Centre Location : 200 Beaver Street Hockey & Figure Skating is quite popular in Ignace. Annual tournaments, summer camps and various programs are held on the rink each year. The full-sized rink is open throughout the winter months and consists of five change rooms with a seating capacity for 800 people. Bowling Alley

Located at the Ignace Recreation Centre, the Ignace Bowling Alley is a perfect choice for birthday parties and corporate events. Renting the four-lane facility is easy and affordable. Hourly rate is $40/hour and includes shoe rentals. Page 11


Parks, Beaches & Trails With several parks, beaches, and trails to choose from, Ignace is guaranteed to excite everyone - from the avid adventurist to the entire family. Come explore all the amenities that Ignace has to offer.

Lilypad Trails Located near Agimak Beach these non-paved trails are well maintained and consist of just under three kilometers of trails surrounding the Lilypad Lake. • • • • •

Red Fox Trail (large loop) – 1325 meters Red Fox Trail (small loop) – 220 meters Black Bear Trail – 720 meters Yellow Squirrel Trail – 255 meters Blue Rabbit Trail – 240 meters

The trails not only offer beautiful scenery and calming sounds, they provide an opportunity to experience the true Northern Woods. Whether you are hiking, biking, snowshoeing or birdwatching, trails improve your overall health and are a great place to spend time with family. Towerhill Located on the east side of town on Highway 17, Towerhill is a scenic lookout as well as a great spot to jump on the sleigh and have some fun.

Parks, Beaches & Trails Beaches West Beach This beach has docks that separate the different depths of water and is ideal for children of all ages. An enclosed swimming area provides increased supervision for young swimmers. Agimak Beach This beach is shallow but gets deeper the further out you go. Picnic at the pavilion or have fun on the swing sets.

Raleigh Falls Easily accessible for all ages, this beautiful waterfall is located 20 minutes west of Ignace just off Highway 17. Stop for a snack, washroom break or take some family pics. Ignace.ca/recreation ignace.ca/recreation

Provincial Parks Sandbar Provincial Park A pristine sandy beach lines the perimeter of Sandbar Lake, just 12 kilometers north of Ignace on Hwy 599. Campground sites vary from tent camping to RV parking. Towering White Pine and Red Pine are plentiful throughout the park. Sandbar Lake is also a great launching point for several canoe routes and home to several hiking trails. Canoes and kayaks are available on site for rent. For the fisherman, Sandbar offers walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and smallmouth bass. Turtle River White Otter Lake Provincial Park Beginning at the south end of Agimak Lake in Ignace, ON. The rugged landscape of Turtle River - White Otter Lake Provincial Park features some of the oldest rocks on earth. A large moraine and many Indian pictographs are also found within the park. The park is also home to the famous White Otter Castle. It is a popular canoe/portage route from Ignace. The travelled portion from Ignace to the castle is about 40 km in length with 15 portages. Along this route are several clean campsites to take a break from paddling. Detailed maps of the canoe route can be picked up at the Ignace Municipal Office.

Sports Ignace Skating Club (ISC) Pre-CanSkate This program is designed to introduce younger children between the age of 2 and 4 with basic skating skills in a fun-filled atmosphere. Tuesdays (Oct - Mar)

CanSkate This dynamic learn-to-skate program focuses on fun, participation and skating skill development, preparing skaters for both hockey and figure skating. Tuesdays (Oct - Mar)

Pre-StarSkate This is our Learn to Figure Skate Program. Skaters continue to complete their CanSkate badges, while being introduced to basic spins and jumps. Skaters must have passed CanSkate level 4 or be recommended by a coach.

StarSkate This is our figure skating program available for all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada tests through a nationally standardized testing system and compete in competitions. Arts, Education & Culture Museum and Travel Information Centre The Dennis Smyk Heritage Centre The museum is an extensive exhibition that displays the history of Ignace. It is named after our local legend and iconic figure Dennis Smyk and is located beside the Ignace Public Library. There are nine themes illustrating the life/history of Ignace from its earliest to present days. These themes are represented by artifacts, photographs, dioramas, models, maps, and written descriptions Regional Travel Information Centre The Regional Travel Information Centre is located directly on Highway 17 within the Municipal Building. Boasting a beautiful picnic and playground area with a nature trail leading through the woodlands, the facility also offers local and regional tourist information, along with exhibits of unique historical and wilderness themes in the Ignace area

Ignace Public Library The library offers an extensive collection of books, magazines and DVD’s and a wide variety of services such as free computer stations, wifi access, and e-books. A family favourite, is the children’s play area full of fun educational activities for all age groups. Leap pads, lego, puzzles and craft supplies are just a few of the items that are available to enjoy.
