Moodily elegant cinematography and subtly expressive performances make n a brilliant film that comes at the viewer in a torrent of beautiful, nostalgic feeling. Delicately weaving past and present, this psychologically penetrating work from Claire K. Marsh follows the story of two brothers. We are pleased to present Claire K. Marsh for this year's CinéWomen Edition. Claire, tell us about your trajectory as a filmmaker. What inspired you to express yourself in this medium? In a way, I suppose it was inevitable, but that’s not to say that it was always a clear or easy path. I’ve been writing since I was a child, and I have always held a passion for the performing arts, and first tried my hand at directing at the age of eight… It didn’t go very well. Eight year olds don’t have the longest attention spans. By the time I hit high school, I was a drama school geek through and through and probably would have pursued a career in acting had fate not intervened. Unfortunately though, I attended a

very small country high school and once the sole drama teacher ran off with the physical education teacher that was that. They never replaced him and drama was scrapped from the curriculum. There were no other avenues available to me at the time, so my dreams of becoming an actor hitched a ride out of town with my teacher. I continued to write, however and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts, but I was in my mid twenties before my mind turned to film. Up until then, film had always seemed like some form of untouchable, unknowable alchemy. But, after I enrolled in a screenwriting class, there was no turning back. Writing is a solitary art, it can be enormously satisfying, but I always wanted to do more - to be more actively, physically creative. Film provided that outlet. But, the crux of the reason I work in this medium is because nothing excites me more than seeing a work leap off the page and meander around. Working in film allows you to create entire worlds. It’s a process of collaborative inspiration multiple minds circling a singular idea
