Impreza is all-new for 2017
BY THE NUMBERS
he all-new 2017 Impreza debuts Subaru’s global platform architecture that’s designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort and will underpin a variety of upcoming Subaru vehicles. Available in 4-door sedan and 5-door styles, both available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines, the Impreza has a 105.1-in. wheelbase that is up 1.0in. over the outgoing Impreza. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are among the many new and upgraded features on the Impreza for 2017.
A new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration and harshness to a degree not seen
in the compact class. Crash energy absorption is improved by 40 percent over the outgoing Impreza model. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru’s performance evolution and also to greater hazard-avoidance capability.
BOXER engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost performance (now 152 horsepower vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a seven-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters.

our vehicle’s windshield is just as important a safety device as your seat belts and air bags. A stable, clear windshield will make oncoming dangers easier to see and can give you extra time to avoid them.
Your windshield protects you from weather and road debris and can play a big role in protection during an accident. A windshield can prevent you from being ejected from your vehicle and will offer support to a vehicle’s roof in case of a rollover. This spring, take the time to give your windshield the attention it deserves.
repellent fluids can be a huge help during a spring filled with rain. No matter which fluid you choose, never use plain water. Water will likely grow contaminants while in the reservoir, which can clog your spray nozzles.
Replacing Your Windshield Wipers The American Automobile Association recommends replacing wiper blades at least once a year. Not all blades will work for all cars. You will need to pay attention to how your wiper arms connect to the wipers. Some new vehicles require special connectors rather than the traditional J-hook connectors that older vehicles used.
Fluids You can keep your windshield clear by filling your windshield-fluid reservoir with proper fluid. During the spring, you can use an any-weather fluid. Some of these fluids offer additives such as water repellent or bug cleaner. Depending on your location, these water-
The blade style determines how the blade hugs the slope of your windshield. The two most common types of wiper blade are a frame-style or beam blade. Ask your local auto shop to provide you with the exact-fit blade during your regular spring maintenance.
Windshield Maintenance This spring, take the time to inspect your windshield for cracks or dings. Damage to your windshield will not only depreciate the overall value of your vehicle but, in certain states, a significantly damaged windshield may be considered illegal. If you do notice damage on the surface of your
windshield it is wise to have a professional examine the severity of the damage. Repair facilities can normally repair a ding that is the size of a
quarter or a crack up to 3 inches long. Repairing this damage immediately hinders the risk of these cracks spreading.

he decision of whether to lease or buy a vehicle is one worth considering if you’re shopping for a new vehicle. Both options carry pros and cons. Ask yourself if you’re looking for a long-term vehicle or would rather have the option to switch out your ride every few years.
When leasing a vehicle, you will likely pay less per month than you would by buying. Think of leasing and buying a vehicle the same way you would think of renting or buying a home. Your personal situation and preferences should be the defining factors in your decision.
mileage under a certain number during the term of your lease. Otherwise, there is a chance that you will be responsible for paying a fee for every mile over your limit. There may be lease-specific contingencies, so make sure you understand what you’re getting into.
Lease Terms While every dealership will be different, a lease term will have its own unique stipulations. Typically, you will receive a mileage limit for your leased vehicle. You will be required to keep the
Maintaining Your Vehicle When leasing, it’s important to remember that the vehicle is not actually yours. You are required to return your vehicle in excellent condition to avoid paying a penalty. However,

How’s Your Financial Situation? For many lease promotions, you are generally required to come up with a down payment. When buying, it may be easier to use the value of a trade-in vehicle as a down payment, rather than coming up with a certain percentage of the total price in cash. If your credit is less than
perfect, you may have a harder time leasing. Dealers can be more apt to lease their vehicles to people with reputable credit scores. When buying, banks can be more lenient on a purchaser with a lower score and allow for a co-signer.

The Buying Climate By Green Shoot Media®
f you’ve been holding out for the perfect time to buy a new vehicle, now might be your moment to act!
New and used automobile sales are up thanks to improvements in the availability of financing as well as some of the lowest interest rates we have ever seen. Americans are also choosing to replace their aging cars, something many have waited to do as jobs and the economy have slowly dusted themselves off after the Great Recession. But even with so many positive factors in today’s auto-buying climate, no one knows how long credit will be so easily available or for how long interest rates will remain this low. All of this adds up to one simple fact: It’s a great time to buy your next vehicle.
New Loans Are Up
If you need proof that car sales are on the rise, look no further than December 2014. General Motors reported that it sold more than 274,000 vehicles in that month, securing its best December in seven years. Toyota also reported a strong December and predicted 2015 sales of 16.7 million vehicles. Car loan debt increased from $795 million in 2011 to more than
$918 million in 2014, according to to a recent report by Bankrate. This statistic is likely due to the rising number of Americans opting for new models.
loans as the economy continues its resurgence. And while interest rates are low across the board, you may find the best deal at your local credit union.
In fact, the average age of cars grew from 10.1 years in 2007 to 11.3 years in 2012, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Rate comparisons show that credit union auto loan rates are consistently lower than other lending sources. According to a 2014 report by the market research firm Informa, the average rate on a new car loan of $30,000 from a commercial bank was around 4.16 percent, while the

average rate on the same loan from a credit union is 2.82 percent. Check today’s rates by conducting an online search or by sitting down with your car loan professional. The first step to finding out which source can provide you with the best loan is getting pre-approved. Distracted Driving By Green Shoot Media®
riving safety involves a comprehensive set of standards that applies at all times for all drivers sharing the road. It is a privilege and a responsibility to have a driver’s license.
That’s why distracted driving has come to be the focus of many safety organizations across the country. Distracted driving is a top safety concern, and it is caused by participating in a variety of activities that can draw your focus from the road. Even a simple action such as sending a quick text to a friend or family member can divert your attention long enough to put you or your passengers in serious danger.
Common Distracting Activities
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,179 people were killed and 431,000 were injured in motor vehicles involving distracted drivers in 2014. Here are the most common distracted-driving activities, according to the NHTSA: • Texting • Using a cell phone and smartphone • Eating and drinking • Talking to passengers • Grooming • Reading, including maps • Using a navigation system • Watching a video • Adjusting a radio, CD player or MP3 player
Most Dangerous Activity
Due to certain factors, some activities pose the greatest risks. Texting is a modern-day safety dilemma, and because it is a multi-
dimensional activity, it is now considered the most dangerous by many in the transportation safety industry. Sending an average text takes a driver only five seconds, but your car can still travel a considerable distance during that timespan. The NHTSA reports that teen drivers — who also are the most tech-savvy drivers on the road — are the most distracted drivers.
What You Can Do
The statistics related to distracted driving are startling. Many drivers, innocent passengers and even pedestrians are impacted if you take your eyes off the road. Some victims have to live with permanent injuries. Drivers are responsible for not only their lives but the lives of every passenger, as well as by-standers. Wondering how you can help keep our roads a safer place? Education is the most effective tool in
persuading the public to avoid these activities and make safe driving a priority. Contact your local safety organization today to find out if there are volunteering opportunities at local events or schools. Share this article with others. Do whatever you can to spread the word on distracted driving and its negative impact on the roads we all share.
