This class can teach you how to reduce the pain of arthritis and safely make physical activity part of your everyday life. Parkinson’s Disease Exercise Class

Mary Spidell (Certified in Parkinson’s exercise) - Hoover Elementary For an entire hour, this class will incorporate stretches, balance and walking drills, vocal and strength training, dancing and boxing. We will also focus on deep breathing and relaxation techniques. Within a few weeks, you will notice that exercising does without a doubt slow down the progression of Parkinson’s improving the quality of your daily living, while having fun and building camaraderie. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and towel. Floor exercise will be incorporated, however, modifications will be provided for various populations and/or environmental conditions to ensure a safe and effective setting for all class participants. Beginner Yoga Betty Marr - Lane Intermediate

Yoga benefits are always being talked about, but what are they? This beginner yoga class is not only for beginners, but anyone seeking to deepen their knowledge of yoga postures and breathing techniques. Bring a mat, water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Code 208110.02

Mary is certified in Parkinson's exercise classes and has been teaching for 10 years. It all began as a small class in 2009 and has now grown throughout the communities. Mary is very passionate about the importance of exercise for those individuals with PD. Mary keeps busy with her husband and three sons. She also enjoys taking Zumba classes, walking and traveling when possible.
