Friday, October 30, 8:00PM - whenever Phone: ! 917-797-7743 Directions from the City to the Church: The easiest way to get from NYC to New Haven by public transit is to take Metro North from Grand Central. Take the New Haven line. The ride takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, and will cost $14 (off peak) or $18.50 (peak). Don始t worry if you fall asleep on the train, New Haven is the last stop and the conductor will throw you off the train. The schedule can be found at: ! http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_form.cfm From the New Haven train station, you can either walk to the church or take a taxi. A taxi should cost about $7, and might be the better way to go. If you take a taxi, you might tell the driver that you are going to the corner of Greene and Academy, by Wooster Square. If the driver is clueless, or you have any trouble, please just call me at 917-797-7743. If all of this sounds like too much of an adventure into scary suburban CT, don始t worry, there are others going from NYC to the church, and you can always join a group. Let me know if you want to travel with others. Staying in New Haven The last train from New Haven back to NYC is at 11:38pm, then the trains take a nap, and wake up again for regular service starting at 4:45am. If 11:38pm is too early to head back to NYC, or 4:45am is too late, you might consider spending the night in New Haven. I will be able to provide beds/sofas/etc for some people to spend the night in the church -- don始t worry, it is not haunted. In addition, some local people attending the party have generously offered to host New Yorkers for the night as well. Don始t worry, New Havenites have a bad reputation, but they are actually nice people and generally make good hosts. Please let me know if you wish to spend the night in NYC so that I can arrange a sleeping space for you. Going Back to the City New Haven is a great place, but eventually you might get tired of suburban living and decide to return to the city. Even those of us who live in New Haven might want to go to the city on Halloween to see the Halloween parade in the Village and join the revelry. A group of people, including both New Yorkers and New Havenites, and myself included, will be going together from New Haven to NYC on Saturday.
