Fall 2014 Volume 13, Issue 1

VYT VOICES Vermont Youth Tomorrow AmeriCorps VISTA Program Inside this issue Dear Readers, Greetings from Vermont! I joyfully bring to you the first of three newsletters featuring the 2014-2015 Vermont Youth Tomorrow A*VISTA Program (VYT) team. VYT is an anti-poverty, national service program supporting 27 A*VISTA members at community-based organizations, schools, and municipalities throughout Vermont. Since their orientation in August, VYT members have eagerly begun building the sustainability of programs and resources at their organizations, along with increasing the capacity of volunteers and staff at their sites. In a short amount of time, they have organized fundraisers, developed new programs, and connected youth with numerous engaging and educational opportunities. As I travel around the state performing site visits with each member, I find myself growing prouder of the team and all that each member is doing to serve their community. Within this issue, you will get to meet the VYT members and learn what attracted them to committing to a year of service. You will also get a glimpse of their vision for how their service year will help organizations more effectively alleviate poverty within their respective communities. Please take a moment to check out the accomplishments of last year’s team as well – the numbers say it all. In service, Ashley Piatt VYT VISTA Leader Newsletter Editor
