GRACE PARKER Fort Gibson High School

In sports, for most people, winning is everything. For Grace Parker, a junior at Fort Gibson High School, Influence for God is what matters most.

“Influence is something that everyone has and how you use it is what matters most,” said Parker, a member of the Lady Tigers basketball team that won the state championship for a second straight year. “I try my best to be an influence for Jesus Christ; not by what I say but how I live my life everyday in every way for Him giving God all the glory, no matter the outcome.” Parker knows making the right choice is hard for everyone, no matter your age.

“There are so many challenges to do what’s right,” said Parker. “It’s super hard for young people today to know what’s the right path to follow when making decisions and facing their options.”

Yet, when faced with tough choices, Parker is all smiles when she thinks of God’s love for her. “What keeps me going is knowing that God is always there,” said Parker, “no matter what happens good or bad. You can keep your confidence in God and know that you can always trust Him no matter the circumstances because His game plan is much stronger that what we could ever imagine.”

Just like in sports, Parker accepts the fact there will be mistakes and knows it’s those challenges are what makes her relationship with God even stronger. “Everyone is going to make mistakes, none of us are perfect yet God still loves us,” said Parker. “I know that I’m going to mess up but God is faithful to forget when you honestly ask His forgiveness.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has conceived what God has planned for those who love Him.”
