celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a few friends–little did he know the luck of the Irish would bring him the love of his life. While enjoying a Guinness or two, he was introduced to Jessica Morrison by a mutual friend. “He asked for my number that night–and I said no!” Jessica says. Despite her initial wariness, the couple kept bumping into each other until she finally agreed to dinner. One date led to another, and another, and they have been together ever since.

THE PROPOSAL. When Jessica and Jack set out for a romantic getaway to

San Francisco and Napa Valley, it seemed everything was going wrong. A frenzied trip to the airport, a long flight and a few minor mishaps later, they finally arrived at their hotel. “We were both exhausted, but Jack insisted we go out to dinner,” Jessica says. “I thought he was just trying to turn around our crazy day—I had no idea just how much!” A bottle of champagne arrived at their suite, and as Jessica reached in for her glass, Jack knelt to the ground to reveal a dazzling diamond ring. Of course, she said “Yes!” They spent the rest of their vacation in wine country celebrating their upcoming “I do’s.”

THE DAY & DESIGN. Sparkle and shine met classic beach chic at Jessica and Jack’s dreamy island nuptials. “We’ve been vacationing on Nantucket together for years,” Jessica says. “It was important to us to stay true to the laid-back character that makes this place so special, while incorporating our personal tastes.” The result? A celebration shimmering with glittering gold accents, soft, romantic hues, and timeless elegance. Sequin chevron print linens set the tone for a glamourous cocktail hour on the lawn of the White Elephant. Mini magnums-turned-placecards led loved ones to their seats where mismatched arrangements in sweet shades of blush and alabaster added textural interest to simple tablescapes. Following hours of grooving on the dance floor, Jessica and Jack returned to the lawn with their guests to release “wish lanterns” into the sky, setting the harbor aglow with love and light.

BEFORE THE RING. Brittany Giles and Tony Pazmino were seemingly perfect for each other—they just didn’t know it. In fact, they’d never even met.

Playing cupid, Tony’s sister insisted the two of them get acquainted. Sharing a love of “Seinfeld,” the Red Sox, and so much more, they instantly clicked— despite the fact that Tony lived two hours away in upstate New York. “For four years, we spent weekends and vacations together, but always said goodbye wishing for more time with one another,” Brittany says.

THE PROPOSAL. On a typical Saturday evening, Brittany was making a quick

wardrobe change after work before the couple headed to a friend’s house for dinner and board games. Just as she was ready to leave the house, Tony asked her to take a seat. Confused—and slightly irritated, she obliged, and he immediately dropped to his knee. “I was absolutely stunned,” she says. “All I could do was stammer: ‘Now? You’re doing this now? We’re going to be late!’” True to form, Tony remained calm, collected and whisked a perfectly accessorized Brittany off to game night. He later confessed that he hadn’t planned to propose that way, but after getting the ring that day and going to see her father, he just couldn’t wait!

THE DAY & DESIGN. When it came time to say “I do,” Brittany and Tony

opted for an intimate elopement-esque getaway on Martha’s Vineyard. Limiting the guest list to their parents and the bride’s brother allowed the lovebirds to craft a cozy soiree aglow with classic Cape charm and pretty little details. Following a ceremony at the island’s iconic Whaling Church, the newlyweds and their loved ones retired to the tented deck at Atria Restaurant for a celebratory feast.

Soft shades of cornflower blue, sand, and cream came together on an elegant tablescape dressed up with mercury glass votives, fresh-picked blooms, and seashore accessories. A petite swiss-dot cake crowned with fresh hydrangeas completed the day’s understated elegance with a sweet finish.

BEFORE THE RING. Fun-loving and spontaneous, Liz Tangerini has always sought out adventure. Just two weeks after moving to Brighton, MA from Connecticut, she fractured her arm rollerblading and found herself sporting an oh-so-fashionable sling at Boston’s Harpoon Brewery Festival, chatting with Steve Van Aelst. The pair hit it off instantly, but Liz wasn’t so keen on courtship.

“The first time Steve asked for my number I told him, ‘I’ll give it to you–but not for a date. I don’t do dates,’” she says. “Before I knew it we were at a Red Sox game together and the rest was history.”

THE PROPOSAL. A typical Thursday morning began in the couple’s

apartment with breakfast and coffee. Steve passed Liz his phone to take a peek at a snapshot of their beloved cat, when she accidentally swiped to see a picture of a gorgeous diamond ring. Shocked, excited–and not wanting to ruin the surprise– she hastily returned the device without a word. “We had a date planned later that evening, all day I kept wondering, is this it?” she says. Dinner and drinks at one of their favorite spots ended with a stroll through the city. Just as Liz had surrendered the idea of a proposal, Steve stopped her in the street and asked for her hand in marriage.

THE DAY & DESIGN. Capturing the essence of summer on the Cape, Liz and

Steve’s celebration struck the perfect balance between coastal cool and upscale elegance. Warm sunlight flooded the stately Willowbend Country Club, where soft coral, mint, and taupe tones were the focus of the beach-inspired design.

Petite air plant and sea urchin placecards led guests to their seats at simply chic tablescapes topped with ruffled arrangements with manzanita branch accents.

The newlyweds ended the evening on a sweet note, spoiling guests with Stroopwafel cookie favors–a nod to the groom’s Dutch heritage–and frosty ice cream truck treats.

meant to be. Pursuing their undergraduate degrees at Duke University they shared countless mutual friends, but it wasn’t until after graduation that something sparked. After bumping into each other at a birthday party in San Francisco, they kept in touch until they found themselves reunited in 2009 at a fellow Blue Devil’s wedding in Atlanta. As they danced and talked that night, it became clear the natural attraction they had felt had been love all along. “We started dating that weekend,” Julia says. “From the very beginning it felt right and effortless. The pair dated long distance for several years, and in 2011 Jeff moved from Chicago to San Francisco so they could finally be together.

to spend time with Julia’s family on Nantucket. The island was a treasured childhood escape for his sweetheart, so Jeff knew it would be the perfect place to pop the question. One evening before dinner he suggested they head down to the beach to catch the sunset. Jeff, an avid photographer, casually set up his tripod in the sand and asked Julia to pose by the water. Setting the camera on time-lapse, he joined her in front of the lens with a photo album he had designed.

Opening the pages he revealed the custom engagement ring hidden inside. With the entire proposal captured on film, the couple celebrated with a beachside dinner with both of their families.

THE DAY & DESIGN. Every element of Julia and Jeff’s celebration channeled

Nantucket’s easygoing spirit with an elegant edge. Soft, neutral hues of ivory and silver allowed the island’s natural beauty to take center stage, while pops of peach, green, and blue added an air of garden-inspired whimsy. Aiming to keep the design nothing short of unique, the groom created a custom seating chart from a photograph of the iconic Brant Point Lighthouse, and also made custom posters featuring San Francisco, Chicago, and Nantucket for guests to sign in lieu of a traditional guest book.

BEFORE THE RING. A southern girl through and through, Jessica Tripodo never imagined she’d find her special someone in Boston, MA. When the Texas native moved North to pursue her career, a handsome colleague, Ken Powers, caught her eye. “We stole glances at each other for weeks before we even met,” she says. Eventually the office crush blossomed into full-fledged romance, and when Jessica was transferred to New York City the couple decided to stay together. After nearly two years of visiting back and forth they knew what they had was special, and Jessica returned to Boston for good.

THE PROPOSAL. A few months after they started dating, the couple visited

Martha’s Vineyard for a romantic weekend getaway. They fell head over heels for the seaside escape, and an annual trip to the island became a tradition–making it the perfect place to propose. Years later, one breezy morning, Ken casually suggested the couple visit their favorite lighthouse. As they strolled along the shore hand-in-hand, he knew it was the intimate moment he’d been waiting for. He dropped onto the sand on bended knee and asked Jessica to be his wife.

THE DAY & DESIGN. Country chic met coastal cool at Jessica and Ken’s elegant island celebration. “Our goal was to craft an atmosphere that truly reflected our essence as a couple,” Jessica says. “Bringing together classic Texas charm with New England style allowed us to share who we are and the things we love with our guests.” The result was an unforgettable “East meets West” fete aglow with seaside sophistication and rustic touches. After the “I do’s,” guests enjoyed sweet sips in the sea breeze, then proceeded to dinner where surf-and-turf cuisine and local seafood dishes paid homage to the couple’s favorite flavors. Mismatched tablescapes created an aura of laid-back whimsy, while weather-worn driftwood added an element of oceanside allure. The evening ended on a playful note as loved ones snuggled up on hay bales to roast s’mores beneath the stars.

BEFORE THE RING. Emery Robinson first laid eyes on Jared Marcus at the Back Eddy, a local restaurant where she worked as a hostess during summer breaks from college. On slow evenings Jared would often stop by the host stand to chat, until he finally plucked up the courage to ask Emery on a date.

Summer romance blossomed into true love. Over the years the couple dated long distance, and eventually moved to Boston together after graduation.

trip to Portland, ME for a weekend getaway of rest and relaxation. Visiting the same oceanfront inn became a treasured tradition, and on their fourth trip Jared decided to pop the question. Emery was prepping for dinner when the concierge delivered a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to their door. Seizing the moment for an impromptu surprise, Jared placed the ring– aquamarine set with diamonds–onto the plate. “It took me a second to realize what was happening,” she says. “Then all I could say was ‘Yes’ over and over!”

THE DAY & DESIGN. Every element of Emery and Jared’s celebration echoed sentiments of rustic elegance. A rich palette of green, eggplant, and ivory set the tone for the sophisticated backyard soiree, where hand-hewn textures and fresh-picked blooms came together seamlessly. Guests enjoyed tasty hors d’oeuvres and an open-air cocktail hour featuring the newlyweds’ favorite drinks–dark and stormies, vodka gimlets, and a bellini aptly named “The Mrs. Robinson” in honor of the bride’s late mother. Inside, lush moss table runners, classic cream place settings, and dusty purple succulents continued the country chic theme, as opulent chandeliers filled the tent with a warm glow.

casual commute, she had no idea the love of her life was sitting just a few rows back. She bumped into Zach Danziger, a fellow passenger, and was instantly intrigued. Over the next few weeks, their schedules kept leading them to that same bus line. “We ran into each other so frequently, it was meant to be!” Ashley says. Taking a hint from fate, Zach finally asked Ashley out to dinner and a friendly spark blossomed into true love.

THE PROPOSAL. After several years of dating, the couple escaped the city

for a weekend getaway at Zach’s family home. With Hanukkah just around the corner, he invited Ashley’s parents to join them for the holiday festivities. One cozy evening by the fire, everyone gathered for a game of dreidel. “Zach loves games,” Ashley says. “I didn’t think anything of it when he insisted we play a new version of his own invention.” By luck, and a weighted side, the top spun and landed on Ashley’s place at the table. Zach presented her with the greatest prize of all–a sparkling diamond ring.

THE DAY & DESIGN. Dreaming of an intimate seaside celebration with

vintage flair, Ashley and Zach knew The Wauwinet would be the perfect place for a romantic nuptial escape. “Nantucket has always held a special place in our hearts,” Ashley says. “We strove to channel the easy, laid-back spirit of the island with a cool color palette of beachy hues.” Following a waterfront ceremony on the property’s Zen Deck, the newlyweds welcomed their loved ones to a cozy celebration rife with simple elegance. Soft grey tones echoed the salt-worn charm of clapboard cottages, as delicate peach and ivory arrangements lent an air of parlor-party posh. Watercolor placecards and ocean-inspired accents completed the design with a whimsical finish as Ashley and Zach toasted to love surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
