The far northern province is fast approaching their signature festival that takes place annually, towards the end of the year. This unique festival offers visitors a golden opportunity to witness an ancient method of traditional fishing using coconuts leaves tied together to form a kilo meter long fish trap. This is a time when men, women and children of Rah Island in Torres and neighbouring villages of Motalava in the Banks islands, assemble to weave the long line and catch fish. Visitors are invited to join the locals to make their bow and arrows and partake in St Andrew’s festival scheduled for 28th to 30th November, 2012. The day’s catch will all be prepared and served during the festival and visitors will also witness Rah’s special "Volcano baking", attend a local church service, and later be entertained with cultural festivities not seen anywhere else in the world. Continue on pg 3 for travel package and itinerary details.

Air Vanuatu Chief Executive Officer Joseph Laloyer has announced a new codeshare agreement with Solomon Airlines that will see more flights between Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Fiji. “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with Solomon Airlines, with the first Vila-Honiara flight scheduled for this weekend,” he said. The partnership will effectively double the capacity on the Vila-Honiara route as well as add an additional 60 return seats between Vila and Nadi . This will also ensure airfares remain competitive,” Mr. Laloyer said. Air Vanuatu’s own Vila to Suva service is performing well and will continue to operate every Sunday. “Our Suva flight has been very popular with business and student travelers in particular, especially with our unmatched 30kg bag allowance and bigger aircraft,” Mr. Laloyer said. “The new agreement with Solomon Airlines will allow passengers to connect to other international flights from Nadi. Together, we have Fiji covered,” he said. Media inquiries: Tiffany Carroll, Tel +67823838 Pacific Venus arrives on Saturday 10th November
