Workout supplements are dietary supplements which is mostly used by people who are involved in athletics, weightlifting, bodybuilding etc. for the soul aim of facilitating an increase in body mass.” The idea of taking workout supplements is to get amino acids and nutrients to the muscles very fast, to help fuel them in order for them to perform better. Workout supplements will work to build up strength, accelerate fat loss, increase muscle mass and help in reducing fatigue. These supplements include mostly anything that can increase energy and enhance athletic performance. They can be found as pills, liquids and powders in grocery stores, online, fitness stores, vitamin shops and gyms. Supplements are just intended to compliment healthy diets. If you are not having a healthy eating lifestyle, managing stress, and having at least 6-8 hours of sleep, these supplements won’t work. Another thing is, a lot of people think by just taking supplements they will be able to have the type of body they desire. It doesn’t work that way, you have to be able to train and workout as hard to get the desired results. Before I go into listing some of the most popular workout supplements, I will like to briefly talk about some of the myths around because there are some misconceptions of what supplements are and what they do. They are;   

Supplements are steroids – a lot of people believe supplements like protein powders are steroids. Supplements are not steroids, steroids carry much higher health risk. The higher the price, the better – the effectiveness of a workout supplement has nothing to do with its price. Rather than looking at the price tag, look at the ingredients instead. Supplements can replace whole foods – this is wrong. You can’t rely on supplements to get your calories and macronutrients.

Now that we are clear on some of the most talked about myths about workout supplement, I will like to touch on the most popular workout supplements. These are: 1. Protein Supplement: protein powders are workout supplements. There are a number of many protein powders out there. Also there are different types of protein powder to choose from depending your requirements. They are:  Whey Protein Powder – whey protein is a substance isolated from milk. Whey is a complete protein, abundant in the amino acid leucine. It is rich in amino acid and aids in muscle growth.  Casein Protein Powder – this type of protein comes from milk, it accounts for about 80% of milk total protein content.  Soy Protein Powder – this type of protein comes from soy beans.


2. Multivitamin Supplements – the human body needs a variety of vitamins and minerals that would normally come from a healthy diet. Due to average man’s diet, we are lacking in some of these vitamins and minerals the body needs to perform its task. That’s why multivitamin supplements are here to fix these problems. 3. BCAA Supplements – BCAA which stands for Branch Chain Amino Acids – are one of the most popular workout supplements out there. This supplement are a group of 3 essential amino acids;  Valine  Leucine  Isoleucine If you are an athlete, weightlifter or bodybuilder and you are not taking any workout supplement, then something is really wrong somewhere. It’s such a good feeling when you are able to hit your workout goals.
