Hi, I’m Vojtěch! Raised in Czech Republic, I had the opportunity to study at universities of Prague /CTU/, Singapore /NUS/ and Finland /TUT Tampere/ and right now I am looking for an experience with you!

I am self-motivated student, architecture is my passion and an important part of my life. I truly find this profession meaningful and worthy and I am happy to explore and hopefully create better environment for the future world we live in. As I often hear that I am enthustic in work, I also know it is sometimes difficult not to run too far with the process and thoughts but knowing the fact about myself, I always aim to think critically and focus on the important while keeping some freshness and clarity. I take responsibility seriously but I also love to enjoy life, as well as challenging myself with learning new ways of doing and enhancing those I have known so far, a bit after bit, every day.

Instinct

polemics on space for communication / 120h competition / 2018 w./ Hana Sloukova + Katerina Vlkova

In reaction on the current communication tendencies, it is necessary to offer to the human kind a new perception. A new and fresh experience, deriving from the very essence of being, awakening the natural behavioral patterns, including communication, maybe even for a high and risky price. Architecture can achieve this through a primitive spatial organization, with archetypes of space, matter and therefore our being and core of communication. Subject. Problem. Situation. Generating interactions by revealing and reminding the elementary spatial stamp - physicality - pure geometrical dimensionality, grading from a point, line, round to a sphere, without the 4th dimension of time by exclusion of change – denial of time, all inserted to our multidimensional time-space. What is the best question we could be thinking about right now?

Undefined and unreachable sphere is reflecting our world, as a night sky with intensity of virtual communication instead of stars and the milky-way. Flat rounded surface floating in the middle of the sphere, not touching its’ membrane. Forgotten island in the middle of nowhere – fear and curiosity. Instinct. Both sided as if you walk far enough, you suddenly appear on the other side without noticing the edge. A line penetrates the surface in the middle. In a single point.

Library for Härmälä

professional arch. course / TUT Tampere / 2018

Library as a shared space. Härmälä is a peaceful neighbourhood in the southern part of the city Tampere. Here in Finland, library is one of the most important buildings in the city, as it provides tre public space - in the meaning public as open to everyone, for free and everyday. The other aspect is the problem of a contemporary library - what is it a library these days, what does it offer and how does the space behave?

The mass of designed library derives from both the site and spatial needs of the programme. Härmälä has an old grid structure southern from this plot, hereby this idea is supported by heavier brick masses follosing this grid. Angle of the shape reflects the two main historical axis emerging on the site, The main part of library with traditional book collections is suggesting a referrence the 70’s public buildings by it’s materiality in a new and fresh form.

Vaasa tower of innovation Finnish wood arch. course / TUT Tampere / 2018

paraWOODYMAXION. What is the best thing we could be thinking about right now? Revisiting Buckminster Fuller. 90 years after his first version of Dymaxion. Structure is based on modular grid and adaptable in time with the possibility to rebuild any inner wall since the load bearing structure is excessed from the floorplan to the central cores and facades.

The scheme is derived from Fuller’s hexagonal experiments. With contemporary and future possibilities in use of wood, it seems to be very efficient to develop such a modular wooden system. The tower holds the classical scheme constisting of a piedestal, a body of the tower itself and a metaphoric and symbolic crown. Openness and sharing principles of the concept supports creative environment whilist preserving modular option for various addaptations and changes for users’ needs.

Jurong Innovation District Dr Samant Swinal studio / NUS Singapore / 2017

Located in the north-western part of Singapore, part of the fields designated as ‘Jurong Innovation District‘. A place without context, or at least lacking / denying context. Right on the edge of so far developed post-city, viewed from windows of many HDBs, the plot is surrounded also by the remains of a rain forest, fenced by a highway, and also a newly developing buildings of a ‚light industry‘, on the other side, including Google headquarters. The nearby air force base together with the highway + MRT transit & industrial (even light) and their noises are one of the limitation factors, together with the height restriction of 60m in this area.

Mainly focused on the new & clean industry, specifically 3D printing & development. Therefore the prevailing typology is so-called ‘maker´s space’, concentrated in ‘maker´s units’. Not strictly an office, nor workshop. Both and none. Co-working space on modular basis; as well from the construction aspect, as from the service / work-flow. Singaporean reinterpretation of a dirty and messy good old Silicon valley´s garage. Concentration of those reinterpreted garages should initiate a sharp increase of creativity tied up together with productivity and efficiency. This theory is written in architectural language of the design. Division to clusters. Unity and uniqueness. Modular repetition. Variability. Creating unique from the same. And/or vice versa? Rentable units with shared facilities as kitchenete, leisure, foodcourt, sanitary etc. on the floor.

Treating the old highway through the city triarchitekti studio, Prague / internship / summer 2017

I am thankful for this possibility to take part on this large scale urban project in its stage of detailed study, work done in the studio TŘIARCHITEKTI based in Prague. Genereal idea, approach , situation etc. are group work of circa twenty people; my piece of work were animated sections + partial design of few particular places /eg. on the right side. The old highway driving thousands of people to and from southeastern parts of Prague grew between rising housing estate developement in the 60-70´on one side ant an older settlement of originally a suburban part of Prague from 20´s with loose villas and not dense however much more livable gardencity. The uprising intensity of everyday transit and transport became untenable in last years and the city quarter is looking for a solution; in this particular approach covering the highway to a tunnel and creating a liveable park with public transport and services above...

Bridge, city / bachelor´s thesis studio Císler & Pazdera / CTU Prague, w+s 2016/17

What exactly does A BRIDGE mean in THE CITY, expecially in Prague. In place, where the ferry – the ethernal predecessor of bridges – is now operating between the city parts Karlín and Holešovice? Both these parts of Prague have a lot in common, including the potential of their relatively unoccupied embankments (especially Karlín). So how does the bridge look like and how does it behave to its surroundings, how does it shape it? How does the city look like on the waterfront, what is happening here, how does this special situation work? What is actually a bridge? Sure, it helps us to get over the linear barrier from point A to point B, but not only; Bridge is a symbol, an archetype.

I am interested in these questions in our specific location and I consider on the same level the bridge and the city, respectively the bridge, the bridgehead and the waterfront. First, in the scale of the city and the unfinished blocks, then closer, in terms of the bridgehead and the embankment, and finally in the scale of the bridge itself and its parts. Although there had been three different suspension bridges in Prague in the past, in addition to the railway bridge and the Trojan bridge, all the present bridges are made out of reinforced concrete or stone; massive materials predominate, which is signed on the shape of the pillars and the whole of the structure. In my proposal, I try to build on an imaginary scheme of the Prague bridge to confirm its genius loci. (Although bridges tend to be technical and utilitarian, they still can not be designed regardless of the both location and situation).

Railway station Prague-Expo studio Kuzemenský & Synek / CTU Prague, s 2015/16

What does the railway look like in urban areas? It can be clumsy and ugly, but also graceful and romantic. The Exhibition Grounds, adjoining Holešovice with its block structure and brownfield Bubny with the potential for new filling and “better” use are an interesting place with a prospective but unclear future. I was seeking what needs a train station on this place, what a railroad body looks like before it gets out of the city, how it affects its surroundings, and shapes the environment, the barrier, and what, on the contrary.

The track on the ground wave is replaced by a “viaduct” with a permeable part adjoining the neighborhood, so that it does not create a barrier but rather a backdrop and space. The parter forms the raster of the lettable units according to the span of the viaduct, but the structure of the parterre is independent. In the central part there is a vestibule of the station - a small railway station with a waiting room, backgrounds, ticket sales and rail equipment. The long island platform is roofed along the ground floor and escalators from the station vestibule, two staircases, lifts, and a ramp leading from the park of Stromovka on one side of the platform and a stairway leading beneath the viaduct. In addition to the building itself, we also solved the surrounding areas, adjacent streets and investigated the consequences of various traffic situations and regulations from the street profile over the road surface to traffic signs and their impact on the functioning of the site.

Family house for a writer studio Seho & Svetlik / CTU Prague, w 2015/16

A family house for a certain czech novelist; a background, a shelter, a nest - home. Portage, light and shadow, outdoors and inside. Workplace, an observatory, a viewpoint. Central living space; connection with kitchen and garden. Views, shared time; the heart of the house.

The one-storey building is situated near the village of Jilove u Prahy, in the area with character of a rather cottage colony than village buildings. A large plot of land on the southwest slope offers majestic views of the landscape around - there are situated living quarters with the exception of children’s rooms facing the north. Spatially clean rooms; built-in wardrobes, doors and windows at the walls. Overlapping roofs create a corner on the terrace around the house that is accessible from the living quarters. The living space along with the kitchen has a glazed southwest wall with the most significant views and a sliding door to the terrace and the garden. The workroom connects a large window and a sliding door with the garden and the surroundings at all. Wooden building (2”/4”) on a curved reinforced concrete slab, which makes the ground plan, covered with a flat roof of the same shape, set in a slope on thin concrete supports casted in-situ. Internal walls and wooden ceiling (plywood on the surface), larch floor in living rooms. The terrace is covered with planks, whereas parking places and outdoor storage only have a protective coating on the surface of a reinforced concrete slab. Perimeter walls with external horizontal cladding.

Wooden staircase

studio Seho & Svetlik / CTU Prague, w 2015/16

Just a month for a small project as an excercise at the beginning of a new semester. Task was simple: come up with a design of a elementar staircase cut out of a 4cm wooden CLT timber slab, assembled during one weekend. The design was to meet the standards for residential buildings and the staircase was set to exceed the height of 2.8 m. Each studio had 2 pieces of pine bark 2500 Ă— 6000 mm, 40 mm and 1 piece of pine CLT 1250 Ă— 2500 mm, basic fastening material and necessary tools. Each studio was able to come out of any number of designs from which students and studio educators selected one proposal to be realized. The whole team then participated in the development of the production documentation and its own assembly, which took place in front of the faculty for four days.

Art studio + accommodation studio Pinkas / CTU Prague, s 2014/15

First year of university, hand drawings and mondel materiality explorations. Task: studio as a place where you can work all day, night, next day, week. All you have to do is run up the stairs and “live�. It is a workshop for one artist; It also needs warehouses, backgrounds, space for work etc, but it does not need to unnecessarily misuse all the huge land that is available around; the rest of the plot can expand the street and help the place, the local genius loci. Studio: structural, compact, closed out, open to other components; flowing space; without doors where they are not necessary. Useful and clear. Housing: minimal, modest, but sufficient. Follow-up to the studio; floor separation, a spiral staircase from a common hall.
