The 51st Inter IIT Sports Meet: Opening Ceremony The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. K.K. Sharma, Secretary Designate, M.H.R.D. as the Chief Guest with Mr. Devendra Jhajharia, Paralympic javelin thrower, the only Paralympian to have two gold medals for India and Mr. Varun Bhati, Paralympic high jumper with a bronze medal in 2016 Summer Paralympics as Guests of Honour. The proceedings began with the hoisting of the flag followed by the release of balloons and pigeons. This was followed by the March Past, with contingents from each IIT marching briskly past the stage as the emcees mentioned a few interesting pieces of information about that IIT. Following this, the Chief Guest declared the Meet open. Robinson Guria, General Secretary, Games and Sports Council, IITK then administered the Oath. This was followed by the Torch Run. Stalwarts in sports from IIT Kanpur ran a relay with the flaming torch, culminating with the torch being passed to the Chief Guest, who rekindled the main flame. This was followed by an enthralling performance from the Enthrall crew, semi-finalists in India’s Got Talent Season 5. The Ceremony ended with a Vote of Thanks from Mr. V.R.
