Location: Throughout Kirklees West Yorkshire Dog Rescue Org Details: West Yorkshire Dog Rescue takes in and cares for unwanted dogs and finds them suitable homes. Featured Role:Foster Care Rescue Volunteer – provides temporary care for rescue dogs – including taking dogs to the vets as required, talking to potential owners & allowing viewings. Support: Induction & ongoing support. Full out of pocket expenses Commitment: Ranging from two weeks – two months Location: Kirklees Other roles: Chairperson West Yorkshire Police Org Details: West Yorkshire Police serve approximately 2.2 million people living in one of the five metropolitan districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The area is policed by around 5,000 police officers and 3,600 support staff - making the Force the fourth largest in the country. Featured Role:Crime Call Backs and Satisfaction Survey – Helping to improve the service offered by West Yorkshire Police. Duties include researching computer systems and conducting outbound calls to victims of crime to increase confidence and satisfaction, as well as helping to identify weaknesses and repeat issues through the completion of telephone surveys. Support: Travel and meal expenses (if volunteering more than four hours) Commitment: Weekdays, part time Location: Huddersfield WRVS Kirklees Org Details: WRVS believe in making Britain a great place to grow old. They provide personal and practical support so that older people can stay independent at home and active in their local community. Featured Role:Healthy Eating Promoter - Helping with the running of a food co-op. Duties may include bagging fruit and vegetables, selling to customers, taking orders & handling petty cash. Support: Ongoing support & training available. Travel expenses paid. Location: Kirklees Other Roles: Befriender, Driver Yorkshire Children’s Centre Org Details: Formerly the National Children’s Centre, the YCC provides services & projects that benefit young people in Yorkshire. Featured Role:Antiques & Restoration Volunteer – Based in the ‘Pass It On’ charity shops across the region, help is needed sorting & valuing donated items of possible value. A background or interest in furniture restoration & French polishing would be beneficial.
