WHO I AM I was born in Rome in May 1993. For the first five years of my life I lived on a sailboat with my family and I was lucky enough to travel around the world. In 1999 we returned to Italy and I started my school education. In 2012 I got my High School Diploma specialized in Latin and Greek Literature. The same year I started my studies in Architecture. In July 2018 I completed my student career and I got my Master’s Degree in Architecture with full marks and honors (Magna cum Laude). My thesis was particularly appreciated by the Commission and was proposed for publication. Before graduating I won a scholarship which gave me the possibility to study and develop my thesis research in South America. I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I could define my design project. I worked on an experimental thesis by designing a Floating Theatre able to navigate along the Riachuelo River in Buenos Aires. In November 2018 I won a merit scholarship which gave me the possibility to attend a postgraduate master’s degree at the YAC Academy, in Bologna, Italy. The theme of the course concerns the architecture for wellness, not only aimed at the design of wellness centres and spas, but also aimed at understanding what is the best architecture that can provide for the daily comfort of human beings.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR Presently, I am a qualified architect who works as a freelancer. In the last years I have been working in collaboration with some Italian and foreign practices, lately with an Argentinian firm based in Buenos Aires, Alonso&Crippa Estudio Arquitectura. I would like to start to get experience in the professional world. I’m looking for some Professional Architecture Firms that can give me the chance to improve my skills and my interest in this field. I am an excellent worker, persevering and determined and I have extensive experience with a broad range of design and management software. I would be happy to work with a team bound together by a common dream and focused on the same project.

EL TEATRO FLOTANTE Tesi di Laurea Magistrale in Progettazione Architettonica Master’s Degree Thesis Project July 2018

The area of interest of the project extends for 12 km from the coastal area of the city, extending along the border of the C.A.B.A, up to the legal limit of this. The project therefore takes on a linear extension from east to west along the southern border between the City and the Province of Buenos Aires. As often happens in large cities, the political and urban boundary between Buenos Aires and its province presents different levels of complexity; first of all, from an administrative point of view, also from a formal point of view, which is even more relevant to the development of this urban and architectural project. The preliminary study highlighted numerous problems as well as interesting issues that were considered the basis of the design idea. Starting from the extreme east of the project area, the districts that develop along the river coast have a readable and more consolidated fabric, in these areas there are several projects and initiatives, with greater or lesser success, designed to decentralize cultural activities and services to the outermost regions of the city. In the Boca district we can find various proposals of this kind, such as cultural centres and new museums. However, the most complex situations are not long in coming. As soon as we move away from the tourist circuit, we encounter contexts of increasing degradation

and abandonment, where the intentions to create cultural hubs are always minor until they become null. As for the other side of the river, the coast of the Province, there are large industrial areas, mostly in disuse, a factor that contributes to creating further areas of urban degradation. On the other hand, as can be seen when sailing on the river, the same industrial landscape, like the numerous tilting bridges connecting the two urban portions, represents a vast and diversified architectural and landscape heritage with great potential for regeneration. Although this capacity for transformation is easily imaginable for industrial areas, which could consolidate into new urban sectors as often happens recently in large cities around the world, more complicated is the discussion when dealing with the issue of informal settlements, or slums, such as Villa 21/24, which extends between the neighbourhoods of Barracas and Nueva Popeya, or Villa Florito, in the territory of the Province. These areas, historically consolidated in the urban fabric, present problems much more complex than just architectural degradation. Faced with this situation, which in the best case we can define as a mixture of different contexts with great potential, we begin to define the idea of this mobile structure, more specifically floating, that can sail on the river Riachuelo. The advantage of a mobile structure, a floa6

ting theatre, in an area like this one is to be a “compact” device, quick and simple, for the regeneration of the river coast. A floating theatre for a mobile show, to be enjoyed in a different way, regardless of the type of performance, the type of audience and therefore the place. In this sense, the project includes a double reasoning, aimed at defining what happens on earth, and therefore on the bank of the river, and what happens in the water, in the Riachuelo. At the same time, to satisfy the obvious needs of a theatre, one or more points are chosen where the structure can moor and develop in these places a more conventional situation with a scene and a fixed audience. In the preliminary study, the scenic spaces already present on the two banks of the river were researched and highlighted, thinking of the new floating theatre as an organisation capable of staging different shows extrapolated from the billboards of the various existing theatres, so as to be able to “stitch” also culturally the two marriages of the river with a varied Theatre Programme. The project can work in this way, at the same time, on an urban and architectural scale, thanks to its ability to move along such an extensive territorial axis and offer a continuous spectacle along it or even become a means capable of suggesting the place where it temporarily stops.

PH THAMES, Buenos Aires, Argentina Working at Alonso&Crippa Estudio de Arquitectura 2017

... Thanks to a scholarship I had the opportunity to study at Fadu, Univesity of Buenos Aires, where I started my Thesis research. During this time the two professors who have helped me as external tutor offered me the opportunity to work with their Architectural Firm “Alonso&Crippa Estudio de Arquitectura”. During three months I developed different assignments, mainly as a graphic designer for the project tpublished by professional sites and magazines. Furthermore, I was also able to participate in the projects that were being developed at different sites, during the construction of the buildings.

(I Never Promise You a) ROSE GARDEN Laboratorio di Progettazione Architettonica I Architectural Design Studio I June 2013

... In Design Class we were introduced to different topics. I chose to study deeper the subject “Rural House”. The exercise did not foresee a specific area assigned, as it was chosen at the end of the course. The first step was to have the project developed, then we would focus on finding a suitable place for it to be implemented. The whole project is solved by the simple dichotomy between structure and volume. These two components are not in contrast, neither complementary, but rather both, in different ways, supporting the logical completion of the building.

The Design Class included the analysis of five different themes on the Roman waterfront (Ostia and Fiumicino area). Via Cristoforo Colombo, a high-speed road, stops abruptly just a few meters before the sea. This project wanted to highlight the speediness of the road and visibly prolong it with an impetus towards the horizon. At the same time, it wanted to reach a conclusion, directly on the water, for this great infrastructure.

During the Design Class we were presented with two challenging themes: The Design of an Urban Park and the Conversion of Some Industrial Ruins. The project area was in the Ostiense district of Rome, mainly characterized by industrial fabrics. Near the “Teatro India” there are four huge brick buildings, currently in a serious state of disrepair and neglected. The project foresees the building’s adaptation into several services for citizens and a new Campus for the Art Academy.

SEW UP THE CITY Architettura dei Giardini e del Paesaggio Garden and Landscape Design Professor: Franco Zagari July 2016

The Design Class was based on strategy exercises focused on the theme of the soft mobility and on the study of different hypothesis of new routes for the city of Rome. Those studies became the occasion for rethinking some different crucial points of the city. Particularly, this project had the goal of proposing a new linear park above the railway by following its path. The aim of the project was to “sew up” two portions of the urban territory, renovate them and offer new services to the neighborhood today lacerated by the long railway FR1.

CASALE CALETTO PUBLIC HOUSING COMPLEX Riqualificazione Architettonica e Ambientale Architectural and Environmental Renewal Design June 2016

Casale Caletto is a public housing complex located in the eastern suburbs of the city of Rome. The two main buildings are currently occupied by residents but are in a heavy state of neglect. The whole area is unprepared to guarantee the main services to the citizen. The project tried to figure out these main problems with some formal and structural changes of the building and of the urban green.

LA CHIMERA Laboratorio di Progettazione Architettonica V Architectural Design Studio V March 2017

The Design Class has been focused on the analysis of five themes, each dealing with a different site at the roman waterfront. The requested exercise was divided into two parts: the first phase consisted in the analysis of the site and therefore the choice of the exact spot where to place the final project and in the drafting of a masterplan. In the second phase, the project has been dealt through a closer representation scale. In this case, the interested area was called “Canale dei Pescatori”, that means “Fishermen’s Creek”, it is here, in fact, where the fishermen usually tie up their boats after their daily work. The Project wanted to maintain the original function of the area and offered to the fishermen a better organized port, as well as giving mooring space to other private boat. At the same time, the new structure could offer some other services to the people that live near the new marina.

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE Young Architect Competition YAC Castel Resort Castello di Roccamandolfi, Isernia, Molise February 2017 Working with: Nicla Ruggiero; Margherita Tommasi; Claudia Zuccarello

The aim of this project is to reinvent traditional composition of hotel by connecting them to the natural environment. In this design we have decided to follow the pre-existing path offered by nature itself in order to realize an approach to movement around castle rock. Along the way there are open spaces where the idea of the hallway is suggested by the presence of trees that act as unreal but predictable walls. On the other hand, closed sections create clear and architecturally defined spaces. Along those sections there are doors that instead of leading to a classical hotel room, once opened reveal breathtaking views. Beyond toe doors begins a “walk on the wild side” that leads to the cabins, hidden between trees and spontaneous vegetation. The archetype of the Canadian tent, is made up of two elements, a semi-open shell and a more private and protected area, that defines the shape of our cabins. The shell is transformed into a light steel cage that works as a skeleton and defines the relative external space. The more private area is contained in a wooden box that changes design according to the number of people that the cabin is expected to host.

CONCORSO PER LA RIQUALIFICAZIONE This project was developed for a Competition for the re-qualification DEL PARCO COMUNALE DI POMEZIA

of the historical “Petrucci Gardens” of Piazza Indipendenza in the small city of Pomezia (30 KM South of Rome). This contest, promoted by the Government of Pomezia, in collaboration with the Architecture Department of the Sapienza University of Rome, wish to join the care of urban public spaces with the study and the competence of future architects. The new Park, shown here, is designed by modifying the surface of the ground according to a grid that is deformed agreeing to the law of relativity. The surface is deformed to such a point as to create the space for a “Cavea” and thus create a flexible multi-level space inside the area.
