To give you an example, the following excerpt is from a script that I might use for someone that aspires to go into the broadcasting industry: “Good Morning. CKIK News Update. Time is 8 O’clock. I’m ________. Your drive in today is building normally along most routes, with just one minor fender-bender, on the southbound 404 at Major Mackenzie, off to the side…” This script has been designed to be used by a student with very specific needs. In this case, I would be emphasizing speed (fast breathing), intonation and clarity. This script is actually also useful for singers because of the long sentences. Practice speaking this script will help them to develop their ability to hold their breath for a long time, while singing and will also teach them how to correctly and quickly exchange old air for new to avoid hyperventilation and dizziness, i.e. deprivation of oxygen from the brain, which could be quite dangerous. The following example may be used for a regular student who is not yet ready to start instruction in singing:
