Hello, and welcome to the April issue of our newsletter! The Venus Key Club is full of hard working students that are very enthusiastic about our upcoming service projects. Thanks to the amazing students we have in our club, we received the 6th top club in the Texas – Oklahoma district. We are striving to receive even higher rankings in the future. Our focus this year is to improve our club and to work harder to earn hours. Each student has dedicated their time and effort to this club, and we are proud of the extraordinary things we have achieved. Our members are always there to help and share new ideas for the whole club. The students in this club have wonderful hearts and are truly amazing. Community service is so important to us that we use our free time to complete projects, even on weekends. Why do we do this? Because we feel like the community has supported us and we should give that support back to our

T-O District Convention!

Convention this year was an amazing experience like I expected! The stage design went well above the expectations I had. It was also very inspirational to see so many Key Clubbers that had the same passion for serving like us! I can't imagine my life without key club next year but I know that next years board will go above and beyond in serving our community! - Jazmin Escamilla DCON was an incredible eye-opener for me. I met so many people that were extremely passionate about service, and it made me want to be that passionate as well. I believe that we, as a club, will have an amazing year. Thank you all for serving. -Jeremy Roca DCON this year was amazing! We had so much un hanging out and walking around, I looked at all the freshman going into their new officer position and I made me think of when I ran, it was a blast! I am defiantly going to miss it next year! -Clara Hopkins My experience at DCON was great and so much fun. I meat new people and I learned so much about my upcoming job as historian. In the forums I also learned many ways to relieve stress and how to come up with ideas for future projects and themes. I am very excited to put these skills into use for the upcoming year! -Lizzet Ortega

New Officers! New Officers  President: Jeremy Roca  Vice President: Chris Escamilla  Secretary: Benilda Roca  Treasurer: Alex Davy

Each year the club elects a new board of officers to keep up with the duties and requirements of the club. The candidates must prepare and present a speech to the entire club, and also be questioned by the members about how they will help improve the club. The club then votes on the candidates, and then all the votes are tallied up for each position. Here you will learn a little bit about each of the new officers for this year.

Hey everybody! My name is Jeremy Roca, and I am Venus Key Club’s new president. I am super excited about the upcoming year and all the things we will accomplish as a club. I am highly confident that our club will succeed greatly this year and I can’t wait to see what the year might bring to us! Hi I’m Chris Escamilla and I am excited and honored to be Venus Key Club’s next vice president. Key Club has taught me that anyone can be a leader and truly make a difference in their community. As vice president, I hope to increase membership and to assist in all that I can. I want this club to do the absolute best because Key Club is awesome and it means so much to me. I hope we go above and beyond this year and get that first place spot at DCON.

New Officers!

Hi I’m Benilda Roca! This past weekend our district had its DCON, and at this convention I learned helpful skills that will make me a good secretary. The skills that I learned will help me do very detailed reports and minuets. Aside of learning helpful skills I met kids of my age that are passionate of Key Club! Seeing the passion that these Key Clubbers have inspired me to do my best as this years secretary. My main goal for this year is to get us back in the top five and to have a blast since it will be my senior year I want this Key Club year to be meaningful for me!!

Hey, my name is Alex Davy and I am honored to be Venus Key Club’s new Treasurer. As Treasurer, I intend on getting our club the Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) so that it can regularly fund projects like the Ronald McDonald House. This will help us go to many different projects and hopefully move our club up to the number one spot. Attending DCON has helped a lot and I am glad I now have the knowledge and skills to be an awesome treasurer.

New Officers!

Hi, my name is Abigail Witten and I am the new editor of Venus Key Club! I am super excited to be editor because I learned all of the skills I’ll need for this position at DCON, and I know how to apply all of the skills to my newsletters. As editor, I will make colorful and informational newsletters to let everyone know what we’re doing and how much fun we’re having! I am truly honored to have this position and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!

Hi I’m Lizzet Ortega! My position as Historian is to find the beauty in picture from my view point. I personally love art and anything involving creativity, color, and perspective. I believe that my artistic skills will help my ability in the position of historian. I can help the editor make the newsletter come to life by adding colorful pictures I will go to as many service projects as possible to make sure everyone can actually see what we do., and hopefully inspire people to join our club.

Service Projects! Stop and smell the service! The Ronald McDonald Organization houses sick children, along with their families, to help them stay together through the troubling times they have. The Ronald McDonald House Charity can help address those problems, whether they involve housing that’s near a hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city, or even getting basic medical and dental care. This month Venus Key Club visited one of the houses to help out with the families. “Going to the Ronald McDonald House is always a life changing experience to me. When I went I was working the bounce house watching the kids jump and have fun. Being able to see those kids smiling and having fun is what brings me happiness. We sit and think of how bad our day has been, but if those kids can smile no matter what, then we should too!” -Clara Hopkins
