Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in October 26, 1910 to parents of Albanian descent. She was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary.

Mother Teresa lived in skoje for eighteen years, she moved to irland and then she lived in india for most of her life.


• The real name of Mother Teresa was Agnes Bojaxhiu, but she chose to be named “Teresa” since 1931, she took her first religious vows. • Mother Teresa founded The Missionaries of Charity since 1950, that had over 4,500 nuns and was active in 133 countries.

• The Missionaries of Charity numbered about 450 brothers and 5,000 sisters worldwide, operating 600 missions and schools in 120 countries. Nirmal Hriday, Mother Teresa's Calcutta hospice, in 2007


• Mother Teresa began to deteriorate her health since 1983, she had a heart attack in Rome while she was visiting pope John Paul II.

She was sick for 13 years and she died on 5 September 1997.

Pope Francis canonised her at a ceremony on 4 September 2016 in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City.

She opposed abortion – a stance entirely in keeping with that of the Vatican – but also opposed contraception, despite evidence all around her of the misery caused by overpopulation


MOTHER TERESA'S LEGACY Pope Francis decreed that she would be made a saint after attributing to her the “miraculous� cure of a Brazilian man who was suffering from a viral brain infection which had left him in a coma.

Marcilio Andrino was due to have surgery in a Brazilian hospital in 2008 when he suddenly sat up, able to speak and apparently cured. A day later he was declared to be entirely healthy.
