When the alarm goes off DON’T JUMP OUT OF THE BED STRAIGHT AWAY, but give yourself a couple of minutes to really wake up. Feel your body, stretch gently, smile and be thankful for a brand new day.
When you get up out of the bed drink a glass of lukewarm water before you have breakfast. This will get your digestive system working and flushes out toxins; PERFECT FOR GETTING YOUR ENERGY FLOWING!
Take a shower. And what is really important; try to finish your shower with half a minute of ice-cold water. It will shock your system, wake you up and provide oxygen to your body. You might even grow to like the cold in time!
Focus on the positive, what are the things that you can be grateful for?
This could be a short walk (10 minutes) or just some stretch exercises (10 minutes).
Choose healthy. Like a nutritious green smoothie. Healthy juicing requires less time in the morning than toasting a bagel and slathering it with low fat cream cheese. It’s cheap, easy and energizing!
Focus on these things and then get up.
WAKE UP BECAUSE IT’S A BRAND NEW DAY
wake up with a smile MORNING RITUALS BANDAGE Bandages are often used when people experience pain but research shows that using bandages while exersing can help prevent injuries and excessive pressure. Vitility offers several bandages.
Inside each of us, is a genetically-determined clock. You can’t wind it, and you can’t hear it tick, but you most likely notice its effects every day.
MORNING PERSONS Not everyone is a morning person who starts the day with a smile. But if you’re a morning person or not, we could all use some help jump start the day. BUTTON AID With the button hook it becomes easier to button down clothes with the use of only one hand.
SMART PILL BOX We prefer big IQ over big size. That’s why our Smart pill box is much smaller than a regular pill box. The smart part is the free app that goes along with it and manages your intake.
PILL CRUSHER There are many reasons for crushing tablets or capsule contents before taking them. So please let crushing be easy. Especially in the morning.
LONG HANDLE Not everyone is as flexible as a ballet dancer. That’s why products with long handles come in handy. Vitility has several products with those much needed handles. Just take a pick.
FOAMGRIPS Don’t you just hate some handles which are so small that you can’t get a good grip. With these foam grip thickeners you can.
PILL SPLITTER Have you ever tried to split a small pill in the morning… or at any other time for that matter. Don’t start your day with frustrations, take it easy.

work, appointment or school. The next time you rush out the door in the morning without something to eat, consider this: skipping breakfast can set you up for overeating later in the day. A healthy breakfast, on the other hand, can give you energy and satisfy your appetite! So why is it so important to have a healthy meal in the morning?
If you don't have time to eat before leaving home, there are lots of breakfast ideas that can be eaten on-the-go on your way to
Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel so you have energy to start your day. Also it provides nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day.
Breakfast can be good for your waistline too, research shows those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with breakfast skippers. If you skip breakfast, you're more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning.
Breakfast also restores glucose levels, an essential carbohydrate that is needed for the brain to function. Many studies have shown how eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels and it can also make us happier as it can improve mood and lower stress levels. Eating a healthy breakfast has long-term health benefits.

THE HEALTHIEST WAY TO WORK Five or more hours of sedentary sitting, is the health equivalent of smoking a pack and a quarter of cigarettes. Yet, sitting around is something we get plenty of practice at. Reading and writing and creating on a computer makes for big chunks of sedentary time.
Remember the days when “work” meant manual labor with a side of blood, sweat, and tears? Neither do we. These days it seems we’re more likely to log hour after idle hour with our bums glued to our seats. And while you may be an Excel champ by day and gym rat by night, recent research suggests that the recommended 30 minutes of cardio five times per week may not undo the health risks of a sedentary lifestyle.
Let’s change that. Why sit down during meetings? Why not stand up? Maybe you’ve seen people stand during some of their meetings and seen how they are active and more productive. These meetings are known as Stand-up Meetings. Now standing around isn’t exactly traditional exercise but research shows it’s much better than sitting. Besides that they keep the meeting focused & on topic, they eliminate distractions like phones and computers …and most importantly they are short, letting you get back to your real work. We understand that not all meetings are done without a table, you sometimes need to take notes right. And off course not all companies will splash out on new meeting room furniture. That is why we use furniture raisers. It’s a simple fix that is better for budget and your health.
There are lots of articles and studies about the negative impacts of sitting all day. Sitting can impact your metabolism and affect the onset of type 2 Diabetes, and excessive sitting is positively correlated with breast, prostate, and lung cancer. One study found that men who spent two more hours sitting each day had a 125% increased chance of cardiovascular disease.
Deskercise Entrepeneur Richard Branson takes walks to get inspired and moved during his worktime. So why don’t you. Now we understand not all bosses think it’s a good idea to let their staff take walks so we came up with a simple solution. Why not use a pedal exerciser to do some deskercises. This might not give you six-pack abs but they improve strength and burn a few extra calories.
So what is the healthiest way to work? And what can you change about your style today to get the biggest benefit? Here are some ideas: Stand-up meetings We have all been there probably, one meeting after the other. These days seem to take forever and they probably do.

WE CAN'T CHANGE THE CARDS WE ARE DEALT,
just how we play them
Everybody plays cards now and then, it’s popular all over the world, but where do these cards come from? The first playing cards were invented in China back in the 9th century. Later the game migrated to Europe and other parts of the world. The first European playing cards were handmade. These cards were exclusive and expensive. Due to the discovery of printing it became possible to produce playing cards cheaper and in bigger amounts. Playing card games involves intelligence, psychology and luck at the same time. The purpose of the game can differ. There are a countless number of games that can be played using the same deck of playing cards. Playing cards made easy again. Vitility has the solution for people who want to play cards but have decreased strength in their hands or can only use one hand. The deck of cards features extra large symbols making the cards easier to read. Suitable for left and right handed players. With the help of the playing cards holder you can play cards without holding the cards yourself.
Thirty-one! And now for a popular Dutch card game, it’s called thirty-one! A standard 52-card pack is used. The goal is to obtain a hand that totals 31 in cards of one suit; or to have a hand at the showdown whose count in one suit is higher than that of any other player. An Ace counts 11 points, face cards count 10 points, and all other cards count their face value. The players cut for deal and the lowest card deals, the turn to deal alternates to the left. Three cards are dealt face down to each player; then three cards are dealt face up for a "widow." Before the game begins, all players put an equal amount of chips into a pot. The player on the dealer's left has the first turn. On each turn, a player may take one card from the widow and replace it with one card from his hand (face up). Take turns. Players take turns, clockwise around the table, until one player is satisfied that the
card values he holds will likely beat the other players. He indicates this by "knocking" on the table. All other players then get one more turn to exchange cards. Then there is a showdown in which the players reveal their hands and compare values. The player with the highest total value of cards of the same suit wins the pot. Who wins? If there is a tie for the highest score, the player with the highest-ranking card wins. Example: K, Q, 6 (total 26) would beat Q, 9, 7 (also total 26). If there is a tie in the highest cards, the next highest cards are compared. Any time a player holds exactly 31, he may "knock" immediately, and he wins the pot. If a player knocks before the first round of exchanges have begun, the showdown occurs immediately with no exchange of cards. After the pot has been won, all the players put in chips for the next hand.

A ROU N D T H E 17 T H OR 18 T H C E N T U RY A ST IC K T O OK OV E R F ROM T H E S WOR D A S A PA RT OF T H E E U ROPE A N M E N ’S WA R DROBE . This stick was primarily used as a walking stick but was also historically known to be used as a defensive or offensive weapon, and may conceal a knife or sword as in a swordstick. For a period of at least three centuries the cane was seen as a crucial part of a man’s wardrobe. It was custom to have several canes to use in different circumstances. The show of power or status that canes, walking sticks and staffs had in the past, makes it understandable that they became a fashion accessory for the wealthy and influential in so many cultures. Early in the 1900's the way canes were viewed changed. Canes began to be seen as a medical device, which is why so little attention was placed on the appearance of the canes available for many years. Clumsy, noisy and medicinal looking became the norm. This is where the stigma of walking with a cane began. They were awful looking, hard to use, poorly sized and just plain garbage compared to what is available today. Today the walking cane is a valuable mobility aid, but it still can be used to complete one's style. So nowadays we see the walking stick as an aid used by people to support them while walking. Walking sticks come in many shapes and sizes, and can be sought by collectors. The modern world offers so many unique choices for the walking cane user, that the stigma of walking with a cane has been replaced with fashion and admiration for the walking fashion accessory. A cane no longer only suggests age or weakness, but rather is an accessory while at the same time they keep us safe and active.

easy days ABOUT VITILITY We know not every day is an easy day. But when you do get to experience the comfort of a day that just passes with ease, life is great. We love those days. And we want more of them. So let today be the start of more easy days!
From day one we wanted Vitility to be different from everything else out there. We wanted to turn the world of daily aids up side down. To do this we feel it’s our responsibility to look at products totally different. From a positive angle without focussing on limitations OU R N E W or age. Because while others see FOCUS IS DESIGN, limitations, we see no limit. And maybe our glass is always half full but we like it that way. It makes life more positive and more beautiful regardless of your age or limitation.
Vitility has been making lives easier since 2008. We do that by creating solutions for everyday discomforts. Today we are the biggest supplier in the world and you can currently find Vitility products in nearly 50 countries. And maybe while you’re reading this we already passed 50. Now that is a lot of countries but the strange thing is, selling our products in so many countries is not really a goal of ours. It just happened. And we like to think that the reason is that people really want our products. Of course we wanted to grow because that growth gives us more space to create even better products.
Vitility is still shifting and always looking for improvements. Our new focus is design, Dutch design. It’s just not enough to create thought-through, comfortable products so activities can be performed simply and independently. We want these products to be desirable for there looks too. That is our new goal. Surely we can’t do that overnight but we can always try. And that will make lives even more easier and pleasant. All day and every day.
''simple'' product come into
how does a
existence? ABOUT VITILITY What does it take to create a Vitility product? And which things are involved in the product-process? Let's talk to Jos van Dal, responsible for creating, drawing and developing our products. The development process contains different phases. “We start with research, then we sketch and after that we draw. In the meantime we look at the most efficient way to produce. This is also the time that we decide which material and colour we’re going to use. New product plans are sent to a mal-maker to start prototyping. Eventually the mal will be produced, that process will take up about 30 days. How many products do you develop on a yearly basis? “We are mostly occupied with new products, ideas could already exist for a long time but still we like to add extra additions or to give an extra twist. The Pill processor for instance has a new function that did not already exist. The Smart pill box with app didn’t exist yet, we made our own product out of it, with our own design and app. On a yearly basis we try to develop and update several products to keep our assortment up to date and refreshing. There are plenty of ideas and plans to keep our team busy for years to come.
Which product makes you most proud so far? “The Smart pill box of course! I really enjoyed drawing that product. My idea was to make a very classy and modern design product that is easy to store and about the same size as a mobile phone. It might look simple but while you are drawing, there is much more to it of course. Everything must combine and you have to know what is and isn’t possible when you give the assignment to make a mal. Vitility recently won a price for it at the ECRM fair in Cannes for most innovative product. It’s nice to see that hard works pays off. This product also was the reason for our prestigious nomination most innovative small and medium enterprises in The Netherlands.

1. blister packs
2. jars, bottles and tins
Almost everyone hates blister packs. Blister packs are secured to protect products from moisture and gas, to ensure a long shelf life. But because of the structure it can sometimes be a struggle to open them.
A lot of people experience difficulties when they have to open jars, bottles or tins. Especially when you feel like you just don’t have the grip or pinch strength in your hands no more.
You can’t get everything out of your toothpaste tube. You try and try and squeeze and squeeze. Because you have less strength in your fingers it’s difficult to get it all out. So you end up throwing tubes away that still have some filling left. What a waste!
A lot of people find it hard to open cans, bottles and jars. Especially tins with a tab/pull ring. The tab/pull ring easily breaks and when you don’t have an opener at hand you can’t open the tin no more. What a hassle!

Not all disabilities or people are the same, but some of the common issues include limitations in standing, reaching, or using one side of the body. The elderly and people with chronic illnesses or disabilities need to be especially careful about their movements to avoid accidents or strain. Temporary conditions, like pregnancy or injury, also require accommodation. Because everyone’s disability is slightly different, you’ll need to adjust your tasks to fit your situation. Tips: • Place what you need on the counter or in a drawer or shelf at arm’s reach. • Don’t waste time on unnecessary tasks. Divide tasks throughout the day and rest frequently in between. Even if we are completely healthy, we work better when we take breaks. • Chopping, peeling and stirring use different muscles and joints. While it may be more efficient to peel all the vegetables at once, even a small movement repeated over and over again can lead to strain. Alternate frequently among tasks. • Arrange your work so you can sit, and make sure your workspace is at the correct height. • Work close to your cooking space. • If you have a few basic menus, you’ll use the same ingredients and equipment over and over, and you’ll be able keep those things accessible. Put away what you don’t need. A limited menu makes shopping easier. You can always vary it as your situation allows. • For people who are chronically ill or disabled, getting out to the store can be a major challenge. Keeping a complete shopping list is essential. • Stop at the first signs of strain. If you need to lie down and rest, do so. No meal is worth a setback in your condition.
cutting edge WHEN IT COMES TO SLICING AND DICING, A GREAT KNIFE SAVES YOU TIME AND TROUBLE.
While any chef can get more done with the right kitchen gadgets, the chef with hand limitation needs kitchen tools that are specifically designed. It isn’t that he can’t cook without them, it’s that he can do so much more, so much more effectively when special tools are used. It is very critical for an person with weak grip or limited mobility to be able to cut food in the kitchen with easy movement and light grip in order not to aggravate the pain. Ability to cut while using one hand or with weak grip hands is of major importance.
So for the chef that has difficulty with grip there are a variety of knives and tools that have angled handles, are weighted, or ergonomically shaped to fit comfortably in your hand. Vitility’s kitchen tools have an angled grip so minimum effort is needed to get the job done. The angled grip holds the hand, wrist and arm in a natural (anatomical) position that prevents excessive effort of the wrist, related pain and/or inflammation. Although the knives are made of stainless steel, they are very light in weight. The handle feels comfortable and has an non slip layer.

THE #1 KITCHEN TOOL We've all done it: you put the pasta on to boil, turn your back for a few minutes to wipe off the counter or read the newest article, and suddenly you hear that foreboding hissing sound of water boiling over. Vitility has got the perfect solution.
SO WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? It has everything to do with the composition of pasta. Pasta is made from flour, water, and sometimes egg, that means it's basically just starch and protein rolled out into different shapes and dried. It's the starch molecules that are important. Once they're heated in a moist environment — like your pot of water — the starch will absorb more and more water until it finally bursts. That sends little starch
molecules into your water, resulting in white foam. It's the foam layer on top that causes the problems. What has happened is the starch makes the bubbles that were already there more stretchy and pliable, so it takes longer for them to burst. A lot of bubbles on the surface doesn't allow for proper ventilation of steam, meaning the pot of boiling water becomes superheated if the pot isn't stirred or the frothy
layer skimmed off the top in time. The trapped steam causes the frothy bubbles to expand and pop up, resulting in boilinghot pasta water all over your stove if you're not careful. Vitility developed the boli-over lid which breaks down the bubbles, and let’s the overflowing water vaporate into steam. The result: no more spilling. Off course it’s microwave and dishwasher safe and can also be used as a splatter guard.
MORE PRODUCTS It’s a familiar situation. After a late day at work, you put some leftovers into the microwave. Ding, your food is ready. You grab your plate to start that meal you crave. Unfortunately your stomach has to wait a little bit longer because you just burned you’re hand.
and use it almost daily. If you use your oven or microwave regularly you probably know that gloves can protect you from some heat but not all heat. Heat will just come through the textile and although it won’t result in blisters, it is not comfortable. That is why our plate handle is that much more effective. You’re hand is just not in contact with the hot plate. And you don’t have to stick your hand into the hot oven. You don’t have to use a dishcloth and scald yourself anymore.
Grabbing a hot plate is definite no go. We know there are all sorts of textiles like an oven glove that can do the job but we prefer our plate handle
QUICK WINS It doesn’t matter what you serve at the table, everything looks better with some fresh herbs. You just have to chop and slice and slice and chop. It's not difficult, but there is a certain amount of technique involved when preparing fresh herbs for a recipe. Coarsely chopped, they maintain their flavor and individuality, but some garnishes and sauces frequently require them to be finely chopped... Or just use our scissors for vegetables & herbs.

To keep things simple, she’s whipping up some spaghetti and a nice side salad to go with it. And then you hear it: “Dear, I can’t get the lid of the spaghetti sauce jar to open. It’s stuck. Can you open it for me?”
3. Run the lid under hot water. Running the lid under hot water for a minute will cause the metal to expand so the lid comes off more easily.
Are you ready for moments like these? Here are five techniques to show off your man skills and open a stuck jar lid every time.
4. Break the vacuum seal. If the bottle is new and still vacuumed sealed, breaking the seal makes the lid easier to open. You can do this by using a bottle opener and pulling the lid away from the jar.
1. Brute force. This technique simply requires you to use your manly strength to twist open the jar lid. You get extra points if you do it without the assistance of a rag.
5. Tap the lid with a spoon. Sometimes food gets stuck in the lid which in turn causes the lid to get stuck. Give the lid a few quick taps on the side with a spoon in order to dislodge any food.
2. Wrap the lid in a dish towel or rubber glove. If brute force doesn’t work, give yourself some extra traction by wrapping the lid in dish rag, or better yet, a rubber glove.
6. Keep your dignity. Use our 5-in-1 opener. It works better than testosterone.

vitility meets fashion
INTRODUCING: MARIANNE PAP Besides creating new aids, Vitility also stands for the improvement, change and renewing/modernisation of products.
Fashion-student at the ArtEX Academy of Arts, Marianne Pap used Vitility bandages to create an exciting graduation project. Her project successfully showed that bandages are not only useful as a support aid. The creamy coloured used bandages of Vitility are a hot item on the collection pieces of Pap’s graduation collection and were already spotted on the site of Vogue Italy and Netherlands! Marianne Pap (26) previously graduated from the ArtEZ Academy of Arts. In her graduation year she related the collection “No Excuse”. “The idea behind this collection was there is “No Excuse” for not sporting and for people who actually work out there is “No Excuse” to be poorly dressed. Two fascinations, one collection, love for couture fabrics and sport. It’s a collection where I not only want to motivate sportsmen but where I also want to support them against injuries. What does this target group need and how can this be fused with couture. So I provide sporty types the ideal sport package where people could sport at any time and get the support that they need to stay motivated. It’s an organic collection with fabric use that you will not see quickly in the world of sport, but could have a great function in it. I look at bandages and sports aids in how they can be both functional and at the same time increase in beauty. I’ve played a lot with the bandage wrap knee in my collection. The bandage wraps play a supporting part for knees, wrists, backs, elbows and fingers. The bandage wraps are exposed free but are also connected with the clothes. So you are not only wearing bandage wraps while sporting but are also protected and supported wearing your daily outfit.
Designer: Marianne Pap Photographer: Peter Stigter
Marianne Pap is very satisfied about the final result of her pieces. “The show went really well and I received a lot of positive responses on my collection. My pieces were already shown on the website of Vogue Italy and Netherland. Recently one of my pieces was presented as a look on the front page of 'de Volkskrant'. The bandage is a big hit! The most Vitility bandages were used on the beige striped jacket. A while ago I was at an exposition with this look and people were very enthusiastic about the jacket,” adds the proud Fashion student.

KEEP IT ORGANIZED Probably everybody knows the classic pill boxes with lots of compartments for every day of the week and several moments a day. Once a week you need to refill the compartments and plan your entire week. Therefore the box is of a substantial size and does not fit the modern and outgoing lifestyle. That’s where Vitility comes in. We say: out with the old and in with the new. We created the Smart pill box, a small box which is not bigger than an average smartphone. It has six compartments, in which your medicines can
easily be stored. The smart bit is actually in the app that goes along with the box. The idea behind the Pill buddy app is actually very simple, but very handy. Especially for people who often mix their medication, forget to take them on time or forget to order. With the Pill buddy app (available for free for Android and iOS) on your phone, you never have to worry about this. You simply enter the medication in the app, the frequency and time of intake and even the number of pills. You can
do this for up to 6 different types of pills. The app then takes over planning and lets you know when to take your next pill(s) and when to refill the boxes. Pill buddy is the new way to plan and organize your medication! The Smart pill boxes are delivered including 3 stickers that you can place on the inside of the box as an extra reminder or if you don’t use the app. The stickers allow you to assign colors to specific medication. This makes it very clear which medication belongs to which box.

Oh no, is it really THAT time? There's nothing more disappointing than waking to the jarring sounds of an alarm clock early in the morning. If you only had 2 more hours to sleep... Our fast-paced lives often mean we are burning the candle at both ends. Imagine starting your day with beautiful Tibetan bell-like chimes. Say goodbye to jarring alarm clocks that stress your body and wake up gently with the Zen Alarm Clock. Your overall health improves when you treat your body to habits that stave off stress and support wellbeing.
Urinal Lots of people have to go to the toilet in the middle of the night but nobody really wants to leave the warm comfort of the bed. That is why urinals are so popular. But there are some accesories that are highly needed. Spilling the contents of a urinal is not exactly what you prefer in the middel of the night. Always use a urinal holder that keeps your urinal safe during the night. Off course we also suggest you use a brush. The urinal brush can be used to clean the inside of both male and female urinals thoroughly and hygienically.
If you this every morning after using, you will enjoy your urinal for a long long time. Support A daily ritual of reading before bed might just hold the secret to improved health and well-being. It improves cognitive function and enhances sleep. There are even more good reasons. Geting the perfect lazy postion in bed is easy if you have the luxury of a electric adjustable bed. If that’s not the case with you then our back rest is the perfect solution.
Reading in bed What’s the first thing you should do when you wake up? Stretch your back. The greatest incidence of slipped discs occurs within 30 to 60 minutes after we wake up because our body’s are not ready for instant movement yet. Next time, don’t hit the snooze button but stretch out your back before you ever leave bed. If that alone doens’t fix the stiffness you can also use our Bed rope ladder or a Bed support that helps you getting in and out of bed.
