A Pup’s Perfect Day IN VACAVILLE

Start the day with a stop at Journey Coffee Company, where a large and inviting patio area welcomes furry friends and your people can enjoy fair trade coffee, home made kombucha, and grab a few snacks for the day ahead. Human tip: Don’t forget to check out on their baked goods case, where freshly made treats, including some gluten free and paleo options, wait to tempt your sweet tooth! From there head out to Pena Adobe Regional Park and explore over 400 acres of trails that feature sweeping views of the Vacaville hills. There is also a dog park to meet new friends, and Lagoon Valley Lake to watch the ducks or dip your paws into.

Human tip: Parking is $5, so don’t forget to bring cash for the pay box. Check out our Insider’s Guide to the park on page 37

Take a stroll down Buck Avenue in Downtown Vacaville to see the historic homes, then hit up Vasquez Deli for lunch on the patio. This local Mexican deli has been family owned and operated for over 30 years, and is a Vacaville institution.

Human tip: Try the loaded nachos (made however you like!) or a wet burrito.

While you’re in Downtown, stop off at Pawsh Pet Boutique and peruse their assortment of dog food and treats, artisan collars, toys, bath products, and more. Human tip: Visiting in December? Get a PAWliday portrait of your favorite furry friend taken for the perfect holiday keepsake.

Just down the road from Downtown you’ll find Centennial Park, home to Vacaville’s newest dog park. With separate areas for big pups and littles, water stations, and plenty of seating, it’s the perfect spot for puppers to play together. Human tip: Bring good walking or running shoes and explore the trails with your pup at this expansive nature and sports park. Finish the day off at The Brass Tap or University of Beer! The humans can enjoy craft beers and yummy pub food, and dogs are always welcome on the patio. University of Beer has their own pup-friendly dishes on the menu, so you can dine alongside your human friends! At the Brass Tap, the friendly staff will provide dog treats and water, and on Sundays, they have Yappy Hour all day long, where your human can get a discount on their first beer. Human tip: Don’t miss out on Brass Tap’s house-made pretzels with Sam Adams beer cheese!
