FRANCE LANGUEDOC THE FAMOUS LANGUEDOC WINE REGION IS MASSIVE. IT SPANS THREE FRENCH COUNTIES, FROM THE AUDE TO THE GARD, PASSING THROUGH THE HÉRAULT, AND STRETCHING AS FAR AS THE WESTERN PYRENEES. As you might expect, a region this big has lots of different types of soil, climate and vine. Vineyards close to the sea can have sandy, limey or even clay soils. In valleys, there are often large pebble terraces. And of course, the weather can change dramatically depending on how close you are to the ocean and its breezes. This results in a lot of different and unique wines, each with their own personality and flavour. It’s what makes discovering the wines of the region so much fun. Languedoc’s Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Malbec and Picpoul de Pinet grapes are all fantastically popular.
