Wine Walks Every third Saturday of the month from 2 to 5 pm , the Riverwalk Merchants Association hosts the popular Wine Walk along the Truckee River and neighboring streets in the downtown Riverwalk District. Not only is it a delightful way to discover Reno’s scenic river corridor, but a different charity benefits each month.

Reno Beer Crawl If you’re in downtown Reno on the fourth Saturday of the month, you will inevitably, and luckily, enter the wacky world of the Reno Beer Crawl where the purchase of a commemorative cup gets you drink specials at a variety of locations. Easily walk or crawl to each bar, as they are all in the heart of downtown Reno.

Themed Pub Crawls A friendly rendezvous at any of downtown Reno’s local watering holes is always a good time. But when you throw outlandish costumes into the mix, a good time becomes an unforgettable one.

The country’s top female bowlers will go head to head in qualifying rounds at the National Bowling Stadium, known as “The Taj Mahal of Tenpins,” to compete for a spot in the finals. The top qualifiers will then battle for the championship title under the famous Reno Arch.

Beach Sports Festival Sparks

The Sparks Marina will host the EVP Volleyball Tour and the UWP Watercross Tour, marking the first time these combined events will be visiting the west coast. Both tours are the largest of their kind in the country, with over 500 All-American male and female athletes expected to compete. Great beach volleyball action on the shore and handlebar-to-handlebar race action in the lake.

For the entire month of July, the festival offers nearly 400 events ranging from live music, dance, theater and performance to visual arts, workshops, multicultural events and tours, a majority of which are free! The National Endowment for the Arts has called Artown one of the most comprehensive art festivals in the country.

Reno and Lake Tahoe Independence Day and fireworks go hand in hand, and Reno Tahoe USA will not disappoint the pyrotechnic fans. There are a multitude of celebrations around the region to choose from, with some offering parades, picnics and other daytime activities, in addition to evening fireworks.

Star Spangled Sparks at the Marina Sparks Marina

The event kicks off with free hot air balloon rides, a pancake breakfast, fun-run-walk, Model Dairy Milk Carton Boat Races, military fly-over and the Sparks’ Got Talent Competition. Enjoy arts, crafts and food booths, plus a large “free” ride area for children of all ages.

Star Spangled Sparks Fireworks at Victorian Square Downtown Sparks

The region’s longest, most spectacular fireworks display is set off from the roof of John Ascuaga’s Nugget while thousands of revelers celebrate the 4th of July on Victorian Square below. The event features live entertainment, a kids’ area and food.

The Great International Chicken Wing Society Cook-Off Reno

The 11th annual event is the spiciest, most affordable festival to hit downtown Reno. Sample the best sauces and top-notch wings as the best in the business compete for poultry pride. Free entertainment. Local eateries will also compete for the best sauce and the public is invited to judge the “taster” wings (Chicken Hawks) and crown this year’s champ.

Reno-Tahoe Open Reno

Recognized as a favorite stop on the PGA TOUR by its members, the 14th annual Reno-Tahoe Open is one of only 47 stops on the PGA TOUR and the only one offering the exciting, modified Stableford playing format. Offering a $3 million purse, the tournament is part of the race for the coveted FedExCup. There are pro-am playing opportunities and fun fan enhancements. The stunning Montrêux Golf & Country Club provides a beautiful backdrop for all the PGA TOUR action to unfold.

The 16th annual festival is the largest gathering of LGBT people in Northern Nevada. Under cool shade trees along the Truckee River, enjoy a full day of live performances and entertainment, shopping with unique vendors, the beer garden and a variety of foods.

Expedition Man

Tahoe, Reno and Sparks It’s Northern Nevada’s first Ultra Distance Triathlon. A unique course starts swimmers at beautiful Lake Tahoe, followed by a 112-mile bike ride to Reno. Three fast outand-backs around the Sparks Marina will cap off this extraordinary race.

Black Rock Desert Tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-reliance and self-expression. Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off Downtown Sparks

If you love ribs and barbecue, then be sure to come to the country’s most prestigious rib competition. The Great Reno Balloon Race Reno

Celebrating 31 years, it is one of Reno’s most colorful and spectacular events. One hundred of the nation’s top hot air balloonists participate in multiple competitions in a mass ascension. A trademark of the race is the Dawn Patrol, which takes place before the sun rises and provides an amazing spectacle as balloons glow and twinkle against the dark sky. A wide selection of food, crafts, art, souvenirs and uplifting music complement this celebration of flight.

In its 53rd year, this annual tradition features both camel and ostrich racing as jockeys from around the globe converge to compete for trophies and bragging rights.

The Native American Arts Festival features a market with cultural demonstrations, traditional food preparation and contemporary and traditional artwork created by Native American artists from the Great Basin.

National Championship Air Races Reno

The 49th annual event is the only closed course pylon racing event in the world and is the world’s longest running air race. Six different race plane classes battle just 60 feet from the ground, with the Unlimited and Jet classes reaching speeds over 500 mph! Besides the onyour-feet action of the races, spectators have close-up access to racing aircraft, pilots and crews in the “pits.” There’s a world-class air show, a large static aircraft display and great concessions. Experience the action of the “World’s Fastest Motorsport!”

Wrangler/Professionals Choice ACTRA National Finals Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center

Members of the American Cowboys Team Roping Association compete at the 30th annual National Finals. Contestants range in age from teenagers to folks in their 80s; each having a dream of becoming a national champion. Spectators can also enjoy vendors and a western art show.

Nevada Day Parade Carson City

Celebrate the Silver State’s 148th birthday with the largest formal statehood celebration in the nation! Parade, arts show, carnival, pancake breakfast, run/walk, music, World Championship Single Jack Drilling Contest, Beard Contest and a slate of other activities.

Reno Film Festival Downtown Reno

It’s all about film! The 12th annual festival features premieres, classics and shorts. Enjoy educational panels, workshops, filmmakers, actors, celebrity guests, Reno’s own Indie Short Film and Lumpier All-School Film Fest competitions and receptions.

Veterans Day Parade Downtown Reno

The parade marches through the heart of downtown Reno and honors those who have sacrificed to protect our country. ROTC units, marching bands and flag-waving citizens turn out in force.

Holiday Jazz Festival Incline Village

Ring in the holiday season in style with this annual celebration of music featuring today’s most talented jazz musicians in evening performances at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. Located on the shores of Lake Tahoe, the setting is spectacular.

Crafts for Christmas Downtown Sparks

This annual holiday gift marketplace features more than 100 craft and gift booths, Santa Claus, cooking and cocktail demonstrations, floral arranging demonstrations and much more. Parking and admission is free.

Sparks Hometowne Christmas Downtown Sparks

It’s a wonderful weekend of traditional activities including a spectacular tree lighting ceremony and 26th annual Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade. The event features a unique theme each year and historically includes more than 100 parade entries.

Christmas on the Comstock Parade of Lights Virginia City

This historic community hosts an early evening Christmas parade in which the floats and marching bands must incorporate lights. It’s a celebration of the holidays with a hometown ambiance.

Santa Ski Crawl Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe

Join the crowd of jolly St. Nicks dressed in full Santa garb to receive amazing discounts on lift tickets, and join everyone in costume for a mass photo shoot in the Mt. Rose Main Lodge.

Nevada Chamber Music Festival Reno

There is no other festival of this type during the holiday season. Renowned musicians are drawn to Reno for the privilege of performing with each other, making great music and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Past artists include leading players from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra and Carnegie Hall.
