Welcome to the North Tyneside Winter Festival. We have an exciting and busy programme of events to enjoy at this special time of year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for friends and family to get together and enjoy the festivities. From November to early January we have Christmas markets, pantomimes, the chance to meet Santa at grottos throughout the borough, a food and drink festival and so much more. Whatever you choose to see and do this Christmas, I hope you have a fantastic time. Best wishes for 2018.

DISPLAY Sunday 5 November The Links, Whitley Bay This annual event sees thousands of people turn out for a spectacular fireworks display along the coast. There will be fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm, with the main display starting at approximately 7pm. In the event of poor weather conditions the display will take place on the next available evening, weather permitting.

Fireworks Display Thursday 2 November Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend Hundreds gather at the annual free display at Segedunum with free entry into the museum too. Doors open from 4pm and the display will start at around 6.30pm. In the event of poor weather conditions the display may be cancelled or rearranged. Tynemouth Fireworks and Bonfire Saturday 4 November, 5pm – 9.30pm Tynemouth Cricket Club Annual family event with rides and refreshments. Fireworks display starts at 7pm. Admission is £5 adults, £2 children and £12 family ticket. For further information visit www.tynemouthfireworks.com.
Blue Flames Annual Fireworks Display Sunday 5 November, gates open 3.30pm and display starts 6.30pm Blue Flames Conference and Leisure Centre, Benton Advance tickets are £4.50 for adults and £3.50 for children. For more information call 0191 270 0885.
Tynemouth Christmas Shopping Night Thursday 16 November, until 8pm Selected Tynemouth businesses will be opening late and offering discounts, mulled wine, mince pies and a raffle (with proceeds going to charity). 4

Santa and Reindeer Parade Saturday 18 November, 12pm Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields This popular annual event will see Santa arriving with his reindeer in a fantastic parade and then, with the help of his elves, opens the grotto for visitors. Tynemouth Station Christmas Market Saturday 25 - Sunday 26 November, 9am – 4pm In addition to the popular weekend market, visitors can enjoy Christmas music and visit Santa in his grotto.
Tynemouth Food Festival Winter Edition Saturday 25 – Sunday 26 November, 11am – 7pm Tynemouth Priory and Castle, Tynemouth This special winter edition will feature stalls, street food, live Christmas music and entertainment for children including a visit from Santa. Visitors can enjoy some of the best food and drink that the region has to offer, from Northumberland cheeses and artisan breads to a range of Christmas treats and mulled wine. The festival is organised by a group of volunteers and is supported by North Tyneside Council, English Heritage and the Sea Cadets. For more information visit www.tynemouthfoodfestival.co.uk.

Santa Express Saturday 25 November – Sunday 24 December, various times each day Ride the Santa Express and explore a magical winter wonderland. Sing along to Christmas classics with the chief elf on the land train, visit Santa’s grotto and decorate a cookie with Mrs Claus in her kitchen while enjoying a hot chocolate. Whitley Lodge Christmas Tree Lighting Wednesday 29 November, from 3.30pm Whitley Lodge Shopping Centre All are welcome to enjoy the Christmas fun including; carols from Whitley Lodge First School choir, a tree lighting ceremony, stalls, face painting, special characters and a visit from Santa. Cullercoats Community Advent Friday 1 – Saturday 30 December Throughout December, residents and businesses in Cullercoats will host festive window or garden displays. Each evening a new display will be illuminated and revealed in the style of a ‘living’ advent calendar. The displays will be lit up 5.30pm - 9pm each evening, gradually forming a yuletide trail, with images to spot and record. The trail is open for everyone to enjoy. Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade Christmas Fair Saturday 2 December, 11am – 4.30pm Whitley Bay Metro Station A family event with lots of seasonal stalls including Christmas trees.
