All eyes on the future

ong Kong is renowned for many things, most notably its resilience. After enduring ongoing political protests for the past two years, and then hit by the global pandemic in 2020, the territory experienced one of its rare slowdowns. Despite these blows, however, there are already glimmers of hope on the horizon — in fact, on 2 May 2021, Bloomberg reported that Hong Kong’s economy had turned the corner, posting its fastest growth since 2010. While consumer spending remains cautious, the overall positive outlook for GDP as a whole will no doubt lift spirits. Hong Kong, perhaps more so than many of its neighbours in Asia and further beyond, has always placed great stock in owning homes and property, and this remains unchanged.

Designers and architects have responded, re-thought and reset the parameters by which they work and by which success is measured. If there is one thing which the last year has taught us all, that is to take nothing for granted. Here at The SOURCE, we remain resilient and hopeful. Our awards competition, which we introduced last year, will relaunch later in 2021 in a new format and look forward to your support once we reveal the details.
