ALL BRITISH DAY On Saturday 24th February sixty British cars and four motorcycles gathered behind Scott’s Brewery in the Historic Precinct for All British Day, the feature car being Triumph. There was a good turn out of Triumph Sports cars, and other British cars from different areas of the South Island with an Oamaru car making up the sixteen and one half Triumphs on display. The run went out to Kakanui then circled back through Five Forks, Tokorahi, Windsor and finishing at Enfield Old School. The school has been converted into a Bed & Breakfast by Blanche and Craig Sturgess. They have done a great deal of the work themselves and are to be congratulated for their endeavours. Everyone will agree that the transformation is superb. We thank them for allowing our rally to conclude at their grounds. The majority of vehicles were wedged onto the concrete courtyard, some spilling onto the grass. It was a cosy atmosphere and enabled everyone to mingle with the group. Blanche and Craig generously gave their time to let anyone view their establishment. After lunch North Otago Vintage Car Club Chairman, Gilbert Ellery presented $1000 to the Heart Foundation. He congratulated everyone who took part and presented certificates to the following. Important Notice to All Branch Secretaries There seems to be some confusion around the date of this year’s Canterbury Branch Swap Meet, despite it being published correctly in the official VCC Calendar of Events. I can confirm that the dates for this year (2018) are Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October. Just to clarify how the dates are set - the Canterbury Branch Swap Meet is always held on the second weekend in October. If, in any year, the 1st October happens to fall on a Sunday (as it did in 2017), this will be determined as being the first weekend of the month for the purpose of setting the Swap Meet dates. It would be appreciated if you could place a note in your next branch magazine clarifying the dates. Many thanks Colin Hey Chairman, Canterbury Branch Swap Meet Committee. -Rod Thrower. Secretary. MID MONTH RUN In typical Verna style the first run for 2018 was organised before most of us had recovered after Christmas and New Year festivities. Members were not deterred by the slight drizzle as we gathered at the NOVCC rooms in Stoke Street. On receiving written instructions we followed a scenic route which travelled via Homestead Road, through Weston, Kia Ora/Cormacks then finished at Gemmell’s Crossing. A very pleasant atmosphere as we enjoyed afternoon tea and caught up with all the news while sitting under the walnut trees. Thank you Verna. 12 vehicles, 25 adults, 2 grandies and 2 dogs. All were very happy and well behaved.

Seven cars and sixteen members ventured into Waimate territory via the backroads to “Odettes, with the sole purpose of sampling the Devonshire Teas, Scones jam & Cream, amidst pleasant company. Leslie insisted protocol must be observed (little finger wise) A great afternoon was had by all. Thanks Verna.

Returned from the Beach hop. Exploring the harbour area and back to clubrooms for tea, coffee & refreshments.

Chairman’s Report I’d like to thank Lynette & Jim for the Beach Hop Run. Everyone found it very entertaining and learnt a thing or two as well. Everyone returned to the Clubrooms for supper, a social time and presentation of prizes. I hope Colin & Rosemary enjoyed the chicken. Next Club Night will be a BBQ starting at 6pm.
