NATIONAL AGM, Ashley Hotel Morning tea, Shantytown DAFFODIL DAY Morning tea, Shantytown Club run
Last month’s run to Moana and then on to Kumara via Mitchells was a wet one but it didn’t deter 50 odd turning up to do the trip. Coffee at Moana Hotel was just lovely, the road through to Kumara was a bit rough in places but at least there was no dust. Lunch was enjoyed by all at the Theatre Royal Hotel where it started bucketing down but we all agreed, it was better than sitting at home watching TV. Members from Westport to Ruatapu came along, was great to see them. Colin a happy chappy again. A reminder to all, that when we are driving at club events in convoy, please leave a sensible gap between vehicles.
NATIONAL AGM – 16/17 AUGUST After tossing ideas around, the National AGM which we are hosting, is next week. All members are eligible to come along to the AGM at the Ashley Hotel which starts at 9.00am on Saturday 17th. Anyone who is interested in coming along, please give us a ring for a form which I must have filled in to have you registered.
WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS AS FOLLOWS – We welcome Viv & Betty Sheehan as new members to the Branch, they own a 1939 Chev Coupe which Viv used to own some years ago and now has it back. Trevor and Lois Evans who have over the last few years attended some of our events after they moved to Westport from Nelson have now transferred to our Branch. They own a Morris 1000 Convertible now, so welcome to the West Coast Branch. We have had an influx of new members recently transferring in from other Branches, it’s lovely to see all these new faces on Club runs.
DAFFODIL DAY 25th AUGUST Daffodil Day for Cancer 25th August Rally. As you all know by now, this is a nationwide event with most Branches holding an event on the same day to raise funds for their local Cancer Societies. This year is the same format as last year and is open to the general public, if you have friends that would like to participate, bring them along. The cost is $10 per vehicle and we meet up at Anzac Park and display our vehicles from 10.30am – 11.45am. We will then drive down and meet up with Hokitika members at the Railway Reserve and display the vehicles from 1.00pm – 2.30om. Bring your own lunch or help support some of the local cafes
The following is a notice from Keith Bradley with an invitation for our Branch to take part in their Rally at the Treetop Walkway on “The Motor Home Association are holding their rally at the Treetop Walkway on the weekend of 16-18 Aug they intend to have entertainment and wood chopping on Saturday 17th.
