LOCAL CALENDAR OF EVENTS AT A GLANCE 16 July 28 July 16-17 August 20 August 25th AUGUST

10.00am TBA Fri. Sat 10.00am

Morning tea, Shantytown Club Run NATIONAL AGM, Ashley Hotel Morning tea, Shantytown DAFFODIL DAY

Next week is morning tea week [16th] at Shantytown. We have had good numbers meeting up recently, come along if you can. ROSCO Sporting Trials at Reefton have been and gone again. Many thanks to Nick Harrison who has taken over from John Fowler as organiser. John has done the deed for 10 years and now wants to be able to compete and fun in the mud. Damon Rose from Nelson Branch was the overall winner. Next Club Run on 28th July – Colin is organising this month’s run to somewhere but involves a lunch at the Theatre Royal Hotel at Kumara. You will be contacted by email and your ringer shortly. As always, if you miss your call and intend to come along, ring Colin as he requires numbers for catering purposes. NATIONAL AGM – 16/17 AUGUST This event is getting closer and we are now receiving registrations from all around the country. Local members are invited to the meeting to see how we work on a national basis, and as mentioned earlier we will be seeking help for one or two aspects. We will know how much help we require when registrations close at the end of July. WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS AS FOLLOWS – Christian and Tania Stoop who own a 1963 Ford Futura Convertible, Lynda Tucker who is now a joint member with Kevin Ted Beer who is also a joint member with Jill Cowan and Vanessa Wallace who is a joint member with Guy Stewart. We are delighted to gain some members from other Branches. They are Mike Stanley and Helen Murdoch [transferred from Nelson Branch] and Michael Leslie [transferred from South Canterbury Branch]. Mike and Helen are living at Ruatapu and are Riley people, Michael owns a 1931 Morris Minor Convertible and also lives down Hokitika.

We welcome you all to our Branch and look forward to your company at Club events.

DAFFODIL DAY 25th AUGUST Colin is organising our Daffodil Day format this year, it is planned to be the same as last year, meeting up with the Hot Rodders and Straycats plus anyone from the public who wish to take part. Vehicles will be on display at Anzac Park from 10.30 – 11.45am when we will drive to Hokitika and display the vehicles between 1.00 – 2.30pm. This was successful last year and we see no reason at this stage to change what proved to be a winner for the local Cancer Society. We will have posters available shortly and if anyone would like to have some to put around town, please ring Colin.

NELSON BIENNIAL RALLY – I hear that the Nelson Rally is to be held on the 9/10th November this year which is later than usual. It would be great if we could get a good sized group to travel up to Nelson, jot this date in your diary and think seriously about it.

JOKE – poached from Waikato Branch ‘Venture’ with thanks Did you hear that after 120 years of driving on the left hand side of the road, Irish motorists are changing to driving on the right side of the road.

Road Safety experts say it is such a big job that it is going to be implemented in stages, with trucks being the first to change then cars following in two weeks later.

Think about it !!!!
