The February Club run to Blackball was a great success by what I hear as we had to pull out at the last minute. Even though the weather report was quite serious and the Rotary Fare was put off, Colin decided to go ahead and defied the odds. The weather up country was quite different to what was happening closer to the coastline and everyone enjoyed afternoon tea sitting outside in what turned out to be a pleasant afternoon at Blackball. The new inn put on a lovely spread so all were happy. SCENICLAND RALLY Our annual Rally is looming up in a fortnight and we have received close to 100 entries. Thanks to those of our own Branch who have been able to register. We are nearly all organised and the one big ask is for a fine day so fingers crossed everyone. Allan and Maria have planned an interesting Rally course with 2 groups going different directions at to start and at the finish section which has taken a lot of planning [and petrol]. Well An interesting collection of cars from all around the South Island and one entry from Wellington along with a group of Canterbury Branch motor cyclists will be meeting up at the Civic Centre carpark from 8.00am on Saturday morning 21st March and will be leaving from 9.00am to take in some of our country roads and whatever challenges they can create. Note that the Shantytown Heritage Day is on 12th April, as in the past we are invited to take some vehicles out for the day for display purposes and man our Clubrooms. Anyone interested, please come along or give Tom Griffin or me a ring for further information.
Note – Would anyone be interested in organising our National Daffodil Day on 23rd August, to raise funds for the local Cancer Society as we require a contact person between the Branch and National Office. This is with Committee input.
