Garage Raid On Sunday the 28th of May we went out to Steve Maunder’s to view his collection of vehicles. Steve now has his late Father’s Jowett, the 1954 Austin truck and a 1969 Landrover. Plus a few more still hidden from view, and ready to be repaired in the future as time permits. After a comprehensive look around, of his work shed and with plenty of discussion by the members present. We then went to the house for a lovely afternoon tea.

With some great home baking cooked by Fiona. Thankyou Fiona for the lovely afternoon tea. Those able to attend were Judith, Colin and Tony Manning, Norma Dougherty, Wayne & Julie Gilbert and Ivan Stevens.

A few days ago I had a telephone call from Ron Corbett about the Targa Rally which starts in Taupo in late October and were ask to place the information in our next newsletter. I notice they are also celebrating 25 years. I have also received the following message, from the Wanganui VCC about their Annual Rally on the 2nd of June and have an Entry Form. Our next meeting is our Annual General Meeting on Sunday the 26th May Our meeting will need to start at an earlier time.

of 130p.m. as a visit to Kevin Rule’s place has been arranged for 2p.m.

Hello Branch Secretary, Attached is a copy of the Wanganui Branch Annual Rally 2019. It is to be held over Queen’s Birthday Weekend. Unfortunately, it was left off the events calendar in the recent issue of Beaded Wheels. Hard copies have also been posted to your Branch today. Please let your members know the entry form is available and that we are now offering online registration. The link for registration to this rally is bit.ly/wvccar2019 (abbreviation of “Wanganui Vintage Car Club Annual Rally (2019”) Thank you. Regards Linda O’Keeffe Rally Secretary Wanganui Branch

Seenagers I JUST discovered my age group! I am a Seenager (Senior teenager). I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50-60 years later. I don't have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every fortnight. I have my own Ipad I don't have a curfew. I have a driver's license and my own car. I have an ID that gets me into bars and the wine store. I like the wine store best. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren't scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared? And I don't have acne. Life is Good! Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager. Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age; it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains. Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear. Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem; it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise. SO THERE!! I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names. So please forward this to your friends; they may be my friends, too

Hi VCC Branches, Please refer draft programme for Targa 2019 along with an advert/info sheet which we'd very much appreciate to have included with all VCC branch newsletters between now & October. This is a very special year for Targa NZ & a great opportunity for VCC It's Targa's 25th anniversary & only the second time VCCNZ have been invited to join the Time Trial with a special discount entry fee available exclusively to VCC members with a VCC/VIC eligible car. Today I've spoken with most of the VCC branches en-route for this year's event & I'm delighted by their very supportive response. This event is a great opportunity for North Island branches of VCC collectively to raise the profile of VCC/their branch & hopefully attract some new & younger members. Please forward this email with attachments to all & every car club &/or car enthusiast you know of - Hopefully if they're not already a member of VCC they may be inspired to join your branch! As always, any queries, concerns or requests for further info, please contact me. Regards, Rod Corbett. rod.corbett88@gmail.com +64 27 433 8772 Targa 2019 Time Trial

When: Monday 28th October to Saturday 2nd Nov 2019. Where: Central & Lower/Mid North Island – Refer Draft Event Programme. What & Why: Outstanding opportunity for VCC members to drive iconic North Island roads as a time trial. This is not a race, but rather an exercise in safe, precise driving to maintain a set average speed over closed tarmac stages. (Similar to a regularity trial). It’s also a great opportunity for VCC branches to raise public awareness of the VCC & hopefully attract some new & younger members. Cost: Substantial 30% discount of standard entry fee for VCC members with VCC/VIC eligible cars = $4,790 reduced to $3,353 + Medical Levy & RallySafe. (All entry fees are + GST). Refer www.targa.nz for further details & discounts. Contact: Rod Corbett rod.corbett88@gmail 027 433 8772 for further details.
