Entry forms & plaques will have photos of the silos on them. Suggested that sending letters to all the voluntary clubs is too costly, Ads discussed, same result, decided that phoning or emailing might be best General, Keith Blackman reported that the family of the late Keith Lange would like to present a plaque to the Club in memory of their father, as thanks for all the help the Club gave them after his death. Steve suggested that we give something to Karan Toor from Stowell’s garage for his services as VCC scrutineer at Waimate 50. Bruce Milne from Makikihi Hotel 50 1920 calendars to the club. Suggested that they be used as prizes & thankyous, & members could buy them for a $10 donation. John Dawson spoke at some length about a man from Wanaka taking trucks & getting some Caterpillar Tractors for his museum. Ford versus Ferrai film, suggested that the club go as a group, & perhaps invite NOVCC to attend. Waimate A&P Show this Saturday, 23rd Nov, not much interest form members to take cars. Well last report of the year. There will be no meeting this month Next meeting will be 16th January I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a heathy and happy New Year. I would like thank to all those the supported and helped the club throughout the year, especially the committee members A big thanks again to Bruce for the calendars, if anyone wants a calendar please let me know Johns run to Mount Atkin was well received with about 10 cars going and there was 6 cars for the Christmas run both on very pleasant days. One thing to remember all runs or rallies have to have a tail end Charlie, and also someone directing cars to the venue. The wallaby rally is well under way with plaques certificates and venue organized we will Still have to have help with the field tests etc.
ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH LIFE IS NOT ABOUT THE QUANITY OF FRIENDS YOU HAVE ITS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF FRIENDS YOU HAVE YOURS IN MOTORING
Club Captains Report As this is the final report for the year l would like to thank those who did the report, and organised other events while I was on holiday, and also when I was unwell. It was disappointing to see so little participation by club members at the various events held during the year. Also the lack of support at the runs organised, ie the Teapot rally, only four members bothered to turn up from our club. Ten members enjoyed the get together at the Makikihi hotel for the Christmas, short notice, but surely a few more could have made the effort. Here’s hoping next year members will show a little more enthusiasm and support for the club.
Sunday afternoon run to Mt Atkin Sunday afternoon 24th November saw 10 cars head away through to visit Mt Atkin. The weather was lovely, and quite hot at times, which made a change from the cold days we have been experiencing. On the way we stopped at Vanessa Powell to visit her lovely garden and admire her Paverpol artwork she has created. Then on to visit Bob and Meghan Powell where we had afternoon tea and listened to a talk on the history of Mt Atkin. It was nice to see a few new faces, and catch up with some familiar ones. Perhaps following the leader, a few directions were needed before we left as some cars got lost, and unfortunately went home, and others took the scenic route, arriving eventually. Thank you John for organising the day, it was very enjoyable.
I hope you all have a safe holiday. Regards Suzanne.
Saturday December 1st we had the Christmas run to the Makikihi Hotel for a few drinks and a catch up. Ten members enjoyed a social afternoon with a short run to get there. The route took in a few roads we had not driven over before. Annoying that they were gravel, but you can’t win them all! At least the views made it worth the inconvenience. However it was great to enjoy a relaxing few hours with friends. Suzanne.
