From The Driving Seat

How time flies, between reports, as we are all aware the weathers been extra special so no doubt the opportunity to clock up some miles is definitely available. I mentioned in my previous report ,and I may have jumped the gun a bit regarding our run to Ohiwa ,but just wanted to reiterate the well organised run arranged by Karen and Mark Spackman which was a thoroughly enjoyable run enjoyed by all and I'm sure our Gisborne Club visitors enjoyed the same. A big thanks to the Committee and club members that worked hard that weekend to make it a great weekend. Our last meeting for the year at Club Night took place recently with a shared dinner evening so to all the members that attended a ‘Big Thank you ‘ Saturday the 30th was the first of the Christmas Parades to take place which departed from the Edgecumbe Cossie Club to the Edgecumbe Domain , there was a good representation of EBOP VCC members and cars , not aware of any major issues happening , but the slow pace and high temperature gauge readings were not to be ignored, but we all made it. Coming up soon are some more local events, so keep an eye on your calendar for these. So get out in car when you can take care and have a Happy Merry Xmas. Regards Lytle

From the Secretary’s desk It’s a common theme isn’t it, saying where has the time gone, but boy November seemed to come and go in a split second!! Although I thought NZ Post were bad, but sometimes things in our digital world don’t work as they should either… following our last club night as Mark and I were travelling home my phone went ’Diinngg’ and two apologies via email appeared one from Brian Milner sent a bit after 3.00 pm and another from Ian Lawrence sent just after 4, yet both arrived at the same time after 9.00pm! However, I probably shouldn’t complain too much as I have been guilty of not getting things done when they should have been also! Hopefully by the New Year my spare bedroom will only have ‘car club stuff’ in it and not be competing for space with work filing cabinets etc, when we move into a spacious office, Yay!! Perhaps one of my New Year Resolutions will be to be more onto things and bombard your Inbox with upcoming events both near and far in a more timely manner. I trust our Club Captain has had a fabulous few weeks away and will be ready and raring to go with a busy time in January/February, with our Chairman’s Run, Rotorua Lakefront show, Farming Like Grandad and our East Coast Rally, followed by Gisborne’s Three Rivers Rally and Taupo’s Country Roads!! It certainly can be a very full calendar if you wish it to be. Our final meeting for the year included a Pot Luck Dinner which whilst the attendance numbers were down a bit, left us feeling very replete, thanks to everyone for sharing. Hopefully the Edgecumbe Christmas Parade was a success and remember the next gathering will be the Kawerau Xmas Parade on the 14th Dec, meeting at 10.00, and followed by a BYO- BBQ lunch at the Sutcliffes. More details elsewhere. Enough from me, if Mark & I don’t see you at the Parade, we wish everyone a Happy and Safe Christmas and New Year. Karen

Club Captains Report December 2019 Tessa and I are away at the moment but get back in a few days. I hope that the Ohiwa weekend went well. The weather appeared to be favourable. Far North Tour. We did this rally during the first weekend of November. It started with a dinner at their clubrooms on Friday night and finished with morning tea at their clubrooms on Sunday morning. This year for the first time the rally did not end at Taipa. Instead it finished at Kerikeri. The route took us on the back road towards Kaikohe then near Mangakahia we turned north and wound our way through great scenery and to start with on a good winding tar sealed road. This stopped after a while and gravel roads took us through Pipiwai and nearly to Otiria. We joined SH1 at Moewera and near Okaihau turned right towards Kerikeri and off this road we turned north to the Puketi Forest and followed a gravel road right through to Kaeo. The Primary School here was the lunch stop. After a big lunch we continued north to Whangaroa and took the Tourist Route to Tauranga Bay, Wainui Bay and Matauri Bay before getting back on the main road and heading to Kerikeri. The dinner that night at the Cornerstone Church was excellent. It was a great tour and covered about 90 miles. All credit to the Northland Club for an excellent weekend.

Chairman's Rally. As mentioned in the Calendar of events this starts at Bunnings at 10.30am on Saturday 11th and finishes with a BBQ lunch at Lytle and Marlene's. East Coast Rally. These have been emailed out but more are available are available from Lorraine Stock.
