Spacious & Flexible Event Spaces The house boasts multiple event spaces, including three elegant rooms inside, a circular porch, an expansive outdoor terrace and a sprawling main lawn.

Policies and Pricing When you rent the Dr. Fisher House, you’ll have access to the entire first floor of the house, as well as the circular porch, flagstone patio, gardens, and grounds. The first floor features three spacious rooms, an elegant entrance foyer, a coat room, one restroom, a commercial "warming" kitchen, and utility space.

Please note: The Dr. Daniel Fisher House does not have overnight accommodations or guest rooms.

We offer a “space rental” only, giving you the flexibility to select your own vendors.

Our list of preferred vendors includes experienced caterers, florists, photographers, party rental companies, and more. Your vendors will provide all necessary equipment— including tents, tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, flatware—as well as food, beverages, staff, and décor.

Capacity and Event Flow: The Dr. Fisher House can comfortably accommodate up to 50 guests for a sit- down meal in the largest of the three main rooms inside the house.

The remaining rooms are ideal for dancing and socializing. The semi-circular porch is often the perfect spot for a bar or cocktail service.

Tent Options for Larger Events: For events with more than 50 but no more than 125 guests, a tent can be installed on the Terrace. In this setup, the first floor of the house and the porch area are used for the cocktail hour, allowing guests to mingle and enjoy drinks before transitioning into the tent for dinner and dancing.

For larger gatherings—more than 125 but no more than 300 guests—a tent can be installed on the East Lawn, located between the Dr. Fisher House and the Old Whaling Church.

Locations of tents will be determined by Vineyard Preservation Trust.

Additional Requirements Dance Floor & Band Stage: A floored dance floor and stage for the band are required under all tent setups.

Power Supply: If you choose a tent on the Lawn, the rental of a generator for additional electrical supply is necessary.

Restroom Trailer: There is one restroom inside the house, which comfortably accommodates up to 50 guests. For events with more than 50 guests, we require the rental of port-a-potties or a restroom trailer.

Timing Reservations are for day-of use only. You may have access starting at 8:00 a.m.

Early drop-off (day prior) may be accommodated if the schedule allows All personal items must be removed at the end of the event on the Date of use.

The service of liquor and the music both must end promptly at 9:00 PM, with guests departing by 9:30 PM and caterers finishing cleanup and exiting by 10:00 PM. Wedding receptions are typically 5-hours long.

Music Guidelines To ensure an enjoyable experience for your guests while respecting the historic character of the Dr. Fisher House and our residential neighbors, please follow the guidelines below when planning music for your event: Approved Musicians We provide a list of preferred musicians who are experienced with the space and its acoustics. If you wish to bring in a band or musician not on our list, they must be approved in advance by Vineyard Preservation Trust.

Sound & Volume All music must end by 9:00 p.m. without exception.

Sound levels must remain under 102 decibels. We reserve the right to ask musicians to lower the volume at any time. For outdoor or tented events, we encourage keeping the volume moderate to avoid disturbing nearby homes.

Music Styles & Restrictions DJs and amplified digital music devices are not allowed.

Our approved bands are professional and can accommodate a wide range of musical tastes. Please note that loud, electric guitar-driven genres such as heavy metal or hard rock are not suited to the venue’s acoustics.

After - Parties If you plan to continue celebrating after 9:00 p.m., we recommend organizing an “afterparty” at a nearby location. We’re happy to suggest great local options within walking distance.

Refuse removal The Trust arranges and covers the cost of refuse removal for all events.

Ceremony in the West Garden

Open Flames No sparklers (including cold sparklers) or open flames.

Battery operated candles are preferred. No candles without hurricane or votive covers.

Accessibility While the interior of the Dr. Fisher House and its adjacent porches are not ADA accessible, the restroom on the first floor is handicap accessible.

Food and Beverage Service Caterer choice: You may select from our recommended vendors or choose another caterer.

Requirements: Caterers must be licensed and insured.

Health coordination: Caterers must communicate directly with the Town of Edgartown Board of Health Agent The Dr. Fisher House is equipped with a commercial kitchen. However, your caterer may need additional space for food prep and equipment. Kitchen tents can be installed at the rear of the house, offering easy access to the kitchen and adjacent Terrace and Lawn areas.

Alcoholic Beverages As the host, you are responsible for providing your own alcoholic beverages. We recommend working with one of the local Island package stores that offer delivery service and will also arrange for the return of any unopened bottles. This way, you only pay for what you use.

Alcohol service: All beverages must be served by a certified bartender and via open bar (cash bars are not allowed). No self-service is allowed.

End time: Liquor service concludes promptly at 9:00 PM License: A one-day liquor license is required for all public events and must be obtained from the Town of Edgartown Temperature Control The interior of the Dr. Fisher House is equipped with both heating and air- conditioning.

Parking Parking on site is extremely limited. Let your guests know there is no parking on site and that street parking is recommended.

We provide two on-site parking spaces for the renting party. These spaces will be assigned in advance by a VPT staff member.

While we will do our best to accommodate parking for your vendors, please note that parking in the on-site lots is limited and not guaranteed for all vendors.

Parking on the lower lawn is not permitted in order to preserve the grounds.

Logistics and Staffing We will coordinate all vendor access for deliveries and the removal of rental equipment, leftover liquor, and any other items following the event.

A member of our staff will be on-site throughout your event—during setup, the event itself, and cleanup—acting as property manager. We ensure that vendors have everything they need, uphold event policies, and work behind the scenes.

Booking Process To secure your event, the rental fee is due at the time of contract signing.

Payment by check is preferred In the event of a cancellation, written notice is required. A refund may be issued if the event date is rebooked for an equal or higher rental fee.

For most events, a security deposit of 25% of the rental fee is due one month prior to the event. The deposit is fully refundable after the event, pending inspection of the property.

Event insurance is mandatory for all events held at our properties. You can easily obtain a one-day policy through an online provider or insurance agency. Some homeowners' insurance policies may include this coverage, so please check with your insurance agent to confirm.

Rental Rates Note: In August, a tent is installed on the patio for all events. Exact dates vary each year and will be confirmed during booking.
