PRACTICE FAIRWAY…RULES FOR USE FROM THE CAPTAIN…A2 Pennant, Men’s Foursomes, Father & Son Cup
FROM THE PRESIDENT…Don Johnson
The Club has been advised that somebody has hit golf balls from the Practice Fairway into a neighbour’s house. The balls went through the fibreglass roof of a pergola where small children were playing at the time. This is unacceptable and if the culprit would like to come forward we will give them the account that the Club has to pay to repair the roof. We have rules that players must comply with when using the practice fairway. One of rules being…
Hit balls must remain within Practice Area (i.e. an area bounded by the 3rd and 4th fairways, the northern road and the dam wall.) I am pleased to advise that a new Strategic Planning Committee will have their first meeting on the 21st August 2014. The Committee includes people from various areas of the Club. They are Jim Sundqvist, Russell Virgo, Bob Dickson, Matt Chesterman and Jan Shaw. If you wish to make any comments about the Strategic Plan please contact any of these committee members. I know they will be glad to hear any comments. When completed the Plan will be made available to members. In an effort to understand why members do not continue their membership we record and analyse their reasons. Hopefully we can then take steps to reduce resignations. Subscription Income is our main income source and must be maintained. To date we have sixteen resignations with various reasons for doing so. On the plus side we now have in excess of 60 Flexi Memberships as a result of the promotion that started during March this year. The Committee of Management is looking very seriously at this type of Membership and actually including it in our list of Memberships in the future. It is possible that the inclusion of Flexi memberships in our standard list will allow us to simplify the list. It is pleasing to see a number of ladies playing in the Allen Jewellers Sponsors Day in August. If this is to continue each month I am sure we can arrange a prize for the winning lady. It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Andrew Robertson (Robbo). Robbo was a very active member and will be remembered for his regular attendance on Friday nights assisting with the Members draw and raffles which he did very successfully. Robbo’s vibrant character will be missed around the Club and our thoughts are with Sharon and her family during these difficult times.
