CLUSTER

Cluster simulates the random and chaotic patterns of nature and brings it to the indoor landscape, where people can experience the same unpredictability of nature. The tile module will act as a brigde between the domestic order and the organic disorder.

My graduation project aimed at designing tile forms for the company Brix, at Milan. The company’s brief stated a main tile module representing a pattern to which the design approach adds value. The design had to be two dimensional, in stoneware ceramic.

The objective here is to use moss, which is a natural air cleanser to create a screen/ divider for interior spaces, and ensure that the material lends itself fully to the intended function. It is also an effort to reaffirm the flawlessness of nature. The project aims at infusing life in an inanimate object, as chaotic as

spore

Spore is an ecological air purifier which puts to use the biremediating qualities of moss. The clay panels come with an engraved pattern for moss growth lined with moss spores.

As people start using it the moisture absorbed through the clay will initiate moss growth. The pattern is designed in such a way that the moss grows denser around the openings in the panel and a pattern emerges. vineet kaur . portfolio
